App updates are not showing up in iTunes

I have a notification of 14 apps for updating on my iPad and 15 apps on my iPhone. Yet, nothing is appearing in iTunes on my MacBook Pro / OS 10.9. No matter how often I click "Check for Updates", I am told that there are no updates available for my library. When I check the version numbers of the apps in my iTunes that appear on my iPad & iPhone, they are a version below what is available.

This has only started happening in the last couple of days.

iTunes-OTHER, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

So, this is how I solved my problem:

- Copied all the .ipa files (692 apps) from the iTunes folder to a backup folder

- Deleted all the apps from iTunes excepted a coupled of apps (Twitter and Remote) that I knew had an update available

- Checked the updates with only these 2 apps on iTues and it found 2 updates

- Dragged and dropped 20 .ipa files to import these apps back to iTunes and checked the updates

- I kept importing 20 more .ipa files every time until the check for updates failed and didn't show the updates for Twitter and Remote

- I removed one by one the last 20 apps imported (checking the updates after the deletion of a single app) until I found the app that caused the problem

- Then I imported all the remaining .ipa files exceped that one and now I have all my apps back into iTunes and the updates working again.

Problem solved but yet don't know why that app locked the updates. It was simply the oldest one I had (2009).

No different Apple ID or Purchased by fields....

Hope this helps

Also solved by deleting a few apps but in my case it was from the same AppleID but with an older email address. Couple of the apps were downloaded in the last few months even though this old email address was changed years ago. Not sure why iTunes is associating an old, unused email address with certain new downloads on this account. I really hate iTunes - it wastes SO much of my time!!!!

For me, removing the single U.S. iTunes store app that I had in my library allowed me to update all of my U.K. store apps through the usual "Check for updates" option in iTunes. However I agree that these workarounds are just that - workarounds - and the overall problem needs to be addressed by Apple as soon as possible.

I recommend that all of the customers that are experiencing this issue contact Apple Support and report the problem. I contacted Apple iTunes Support this morning and reported the problem. They were not aware of the issue, so it's obviously only affecting a very small subset of their millions of customers... Nevertheless the more of us that report the issue to Apple the quicker it will be resolved (hopefully).

You can contact Apple for iTunes support using the following URL:

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

Select the iTunes Player option and you can then report the problem or even request a call back from Apple (in the U.K. at least).

If some of my purchase is coming from US store, and most purchased are coming from Thailand store, how do I know which apps are from US store? how to check this? so I can try to delete them and see whether the update will show up as it should be

Apple has screwed up iTunes and Apple must fix it as soon as possible. It is not fair to waste user time, trying to solve the bug that the company created

Boo to Apple

You can check the apps using the Purchased section in iTunes or the App Store on your iOS device. Although, it isn't possible for apps downloaded from different contries to be shown up together.

WORKAROUND: You can simply solve this problem by updating the apps on your iOS device first, then transfer the apps to iTunes by transfering the purchases.
