Mac has suddenly been running very slow lately

My 15" mid 2010 Macbook Pro has been suddenly moving very slowly. I was using Google Chrome a lot, but then saw that that could slow things down.

Here are my specs

I have also had troubles with my Mac running slow recently. I downloaded that program and here are my results.

Just wondering, why all the hate about CleanMyMac ?

I'm an experienced Unix engineer and know my way around system internals.

I've found CleanMyMac pretty safe and conservative with what it removes and it never borked my system once. Maybe I did uncheck things that sounded a bit risky a few times... but generally it's an awesome tool for e.g. cleaning up your iPhoto library, pinpoiting huge folders and removing uninstalled apps' leftover preferences / other junk

Well, not my experience at least.

Just mentioning this because this guy had performance issues and loads of junk on his machine, and the first thing people are advising is to remove the *one* thing that can help do most of the cleanup work : CleanMyMac !

And then give him the steps to do more or less the same job CleanMyMac would have done automatically, but with a lot more effort.
I mean, stale pref files, pref panels, startup items... that's all stuff CleanMyMac handles routinely. Might need to uncheck a few things to be on the safe side, sure, but still better and less error-prone than having a non-engineer do that manually. And no I don't work for them 🙂
