Exactly.

You probably have a second hand iPad that was protected using Activation Lock as described here:

Activation Lock is an anti-theft feature. You need the previous owner's Apple ID and password to unlock the iPad. Otherwise, the iPad can never be used again.

These are user-to-user forums, nobody on here can remove an account from your phone - only the person whose account it is can do it, or potentially Apple (if you bough the phone new)

If you bought the phone new and you can't remember your id you could try going to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/) and see if they can remove the phone from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it

Have you tried : If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support ? If you can find your id, to reset its password : http://iforgot.apple.com

If you still can't find it, and if the iPad is on the activation screen and if you were the original purchaser of the iPad (i.e. it wasn’t bought used), you could try going to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html) and see if they can remove the iPad from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it

Don't post your email address, these are user-to-user public forums - I've asked the hosts to remove it.

To reset an account's password : http://iforgot.apple.com

If you can't reset the password yourself, try contacting Support and see if they can do so for you : Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security - Apple Support

If your country isn't on that page : https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
