Lost Projects with Final Cut 10.1

Hey Tom - There is no "Updated Projects" event.

What exactkly did you do? Update everything? Update selected drives? Are events and projects on separate drives? Post screen shots of the external drive with the events and projects folders.

Then tell me exactly what your doing, I mean step-by-step. Show me shots of the original projects and events folders.

When I first opened the program, I told it to Update All. I have one collection of Projects and Events on my local drive and the rest, plus a backup of the other, on an external hard drive.

I'd show the Events open as well, but there are too many to show.

I have a back up of this drive that I'm hesitant to use because I don't want to screw it up too, but if it seems necessary, I'll do it after a thorough backup of that drive.

Inside the library called Media Drive's projects and events, there should be an event called Updated Projects. Those should be the projects that were in the FC Projects folder that's now in Media Drive Old Final Cut Projects and Events.

There's an Updated Projects event for my local drive but all the Events from my external, I imported by hand and no Projects made it in.

When I try to use File > Update Projects and Events, using a work-around you suggested to someone else, nothing works right. Details on that issue: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5739105

Where the projects on the external duplicates of projects on the internal? I don't understand why the projects folder from Media Drive didn't come over.

Are there projects inside the old projects folder? If you move it out to the top layer again and rerun update do they come in?

Some of the projects on the external are backups of the internal projects. I don't understand why the projects and events didn't come over from the Media Drive at all.

There are projects in the old projects folder. When I tried importing a selection of them from the top level, nothing came through and I got errors about file not linking, etc.

I'm trying to Update just the Projects folder and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will work. It's about 45% through and came to a stand-still.

Here are screenshots of my internal drive folders and library, and the external drive folders and library.

1) My library located on my internal drive. No problems with file transfers here, but I don't know what the "Final Cut External Media" folder is.

2) My saved events and projects (none on my internal drive) folders that all seem to imported properly on my internal drive.

3) My new library on my internal drive, showing the events that all properly were updated.

4) My saved events and projects from my external hard drive. None of my projects were updated, and only the "Burundi" event was updated, and even then it went from 117 GB to 48 GB. Confused.

5) My library on the external drive. As you can see, no projects, and only one of the events updated.

In Final Cut, the only items that show up in my viewer are those that you see in the libraries I've posted. I have no clue how to salvage the projects and events from my external drive that did not update on their own.

The projects and events from your Movies folder should be in the Guenther's projects and events libraries, except there doesn't seem to be any projects in there, only events.

As you can see in the screen captures, the problem isn't with the Guenther library, which had everything from the Guenther Final Cut Events and Projects folders update properly.

The problem is with my external drive, "Passport" where only one of the events and none of the projects shown updated to the Library.

Move the Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events folders back to the top level and re-run the update function on that drive. Are any of the projects and events duplicates from another drive with just the name changed?

Already tried that. After the update ran, the events and projects that didn't get selected are no longer selectable when I try to manually update, and the same result occurs even if I do an automatic update. It just scans the one event that already made it through and ignores the others.

No duplicates.

The events and projects remain un-selectable in the manual update process even after I've copied them into the final cut events/projects folder on the internal drive.

You don't select the folders; you only select the drive as you did in the image above.

Do you still have the previous version? Will it open the projects and events?

Don't have the previous version. Fairly new to FCP X, and editing and workflow in general. I've tried both selecting the drives and selecting the folders, files, every idea I can think of.
