I used 1234 as recommended by another user. I didn’t recall ever setting a PIN for restrictions and now it seems it was set during an up date. I would suggest before resetting phone try the default 1234. Work for me
If you have a back up of your iPad before you put on the restrictions passcode try restoring that back up from iTunes on your computer and that should fix it.
if you don’t have a back up of it you can erase it and set up as a new iPad or just try random codes every few hours if you don’t want to lose any data

Hi dgowalker you said that you had tried password 1234 as the default Apple restriction password and it had worked for U ,but I tried it and it didn’t work for me
Did I miss anything?
There is no default Apple restriction passcode. If your passcode was 1234, it's because you or someone with access to your phone chose that.
More recently, not congruent. Have iTunes backup of iOS11.2.5 (public beta) and the number discovered is NOT the restrictions passcode. The search continues. Now, where did I put that piece of paper last time I cracked this ?? ha ha ha
Hi Tikara, what you put up was very informative especially compared to others. I did what you said and found the 4 digets but when I typed them in it STILL said wrong password. Is there something else I can do. Regrds David

There is NO default code. Someone set "1234" as the passcode on your phone. It might have been you (and you've forgotten) or, it might have been someone else with access to the phone. But, once again, there is NO default code.

I know I did not set mine so I tried your default passcode 1234 and it did not work
There is no "default passcode" for anything on an iOS device. The only way 1234 could be a passcode is if that's what someone (foolishly) chose.
Hi! I am looking through all the post and I am not seeing how to get or reset restrictions passcode. For what I read apple says you have to erase the entire phone. Is this what you did to reset the passcode??
Thanks

You cannot reset the passcode. You have to restore the phone.
What I read, was that most likely my passcode for restrictions was 1234, because Apple made a default setting to one of their software updates a while back. I would at least just try to plot in 1234, if you certainly don’t remember having set a restrictions passcode before. That was at least my case, and it worked. I was then able to fix my phone.

That is incorrect. There are not now and never have been any default passcodes in iOS.
Short version....try 0000 if like me you never set a restriction passcode to begin with.
I was struggling with the same issue.
I could have sworn that I did NOT set a restriction password ever. I have a few different PIN type codes I use and none of them worked, which only reinforced my belief that I never set a passcode.

Where is Macintosh hd? I don’t have a MacBook, I have a dell laptop
1. Macintosh HD is the name given to the system hard drive on Macs. Unless you manually gave your hard drive that name a Dell computer would not have a hard drive named that.
2. If you have a Dell laptop, then the instructions to recover the Restrictions passcode that use that path do not work for you.

Restore your phone as new. The instructions have already been provided in this thread. If you'd read the thread before posting in it, you would have already known that, of course.
No one can tell you what your restrictions passcode it. It only resides on your device and no one has access to it. What good would it be if there was a way to recover it by anyone.
You need to read through this thread, the answer has been provided multiple times. You are going to have to restore your device and set it up as new, not using a backup. The backup contains the passcode so restoring a backup would just put it back on.
Not sure how old this post is, but I my kids lost their Restrictions passcodes on their iPads. I don't recall where I found the Youtube link, but I thought it was on this website. Regardless, I watched a YouTube video and downloaded their free software and recovered the Restrictions passcode on one iPad. I ran virus checkers and didn't find any problems. Standard disqualifiers about using free stuff from the internet apply. Here's my old post:
This Youtube link worked like a champ on iPad 4 Mini, ios 9.2.1. I just bought this and restored a backup from iPad 4. The code it found wasn't anything I set...no idea how it got there. 0000, 1234 didn't work. Another 4-digit code in the plist file didn't work. Watch the video; it's easy. First try.
