I used 1234 as recommended by another user. I didn’t recall ever setting a PIN for restrictions and now it seems it was set during an up date. I would suggest before resetting phone try the default 1234. Work for me

What happens when you try to access them ? Do the apps show in the device's homescreen (if they do you haven't hidden them via Restrictions) ?

Do I need to restore the phone?

If you've forgotten the Restrictions passcode you would need to restore to a backup taken when the code wasn't on the phone (or reset the phone back to factory defaults).

Unfortunately you cannot. There is no way to recover a restrictions passcode directly on the iPhone without a third party app as that would render the passcode complete pointless.

The only way to remove the passcode is to restore the iPhone.

There are apps out there that claim to be able to read a backup containing the passcode and show it to you. But I have no experience with them, so cannot comment on any of them.

Tell Me Restrictions Code To Turn Off

No can tell you what the restrictions code is. It is set on the device, and only the person who set it know what it is.

If you forgot it, you will need to restore the device to remove it. Follow the steps posted many many times alread7y in the very thread you posted in.

I've forgotten my son's iPad restrictions code and I want to reset this with minimal data loss since he has a lot apps and data that he uses for school and study.

I've tried using back up software to retrieve the password data but it seems Apple has now made it that you can either back up with encryption, which saves passwords, or without encrypted, which does not save PW info.

I'm wondering if I back up the device without encryption, then I restore the iPad to factory settings, then use the non-encrypted back up to restore the iPad, will the restrictions setting be gone but minimize data loss?

I created a restriction code about 4 years ago on my iPad mini and I have recently been back on it and want to reset it but can’t as I can’t remember the code

If you forgot it, you cannot change it. You need to restore the iPad to remove it and set a new one as has been explained many many times over in the very thread you replied to.

Otherwise, if you know the passcode, you can go to Settings->Screen Time->Change Screen Time Passcode and change it there.

I set the restrictions code a couple years ago and for it it, and I don't have a backup pre-restrictions code.

Is the only way to wipe my phone and start over?

I see a bunch of videos showing tools like ibackupbot that backup my stuff while allowing the restrictions code to be reset. I don't want to use this app of unknown/untrusted origin. Is there a way to do what this tool does without having to download any third party stuff?
