Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Is there an app that makes it possible to write and send a text via the iPhone, from a computer? Have seen a few that seems to have the option to write it and send it to the iPhone, but then you have to send it on the phone anyway... Oh, and I'm using Windows 7 (64).

I had this same issue. Got used to using mysms to send and receive text messages from PC laptop with Android phone, then switched to iPhone.
I just downloaded, and have been using, Message+ from Verizon, sending messages from PC laptop to iPhone. If you have Verizon, it works great.

I had a different term in mind. It used to be an actual medical term. However, I believe the hosts would take a dim view of my impugning the character of people who are mentally ******** by comparing our little gabster to them in any way.

Not exactly direct, but still pretty quick. It's useful if you have one or more long SMSs to write.
1. Send your desired text (or multiple ones) in an email from your PC that you open on your iPhone.
2. Copy the desired text from the email and paste into your outgoing SMS.

While I'm a big fan of Simple Note, it has little to do with sending text messages.
actually for android there is. i am using it as we speak. its called mighty text. you download it on your phone. then you open it, go to your pc. and go to mightytext.com/app. all your messages will appear on the pc, you can text anyone from there and if they reply it goes to your pc. all without touching your phone.

There are apps on the PC (in Chrome browser specifically), and also email, that allow you to send texts from your PC. They do not get sent from your phone # however. You need a phone for that.
So I can directly send messages via iCloud? Without having to physically even touch my phone?
one thing with the icloud. what ever you put on your phone will be on the website, and what ever you put on the website will appear on your phone

well you can send emails,notes and some other things but not text messages
