Itunes update failed. MSVCR80.dll is missing

Sorry to ask again, but I am not sure of the answer to my question: After following this procedure, will iTunes re-sync/re-copy all of the songs that belong on each device? Or will iTunes know that they are already on each device? If it has to re-copy, then this is not a good solution, since it takes 4 days for each device to sync. Thanks, Matthew

It should work as if nothing has changed, only new updated will need transferring during a sync, just as normally happens when iTunes is updated.

as long as you do not delete previous i tunes library

and i tunes media

but the only thing that will appear on your new 10.1 itunes program are recent purchases

so you will have to highlight old Music and add them to itunes

but in my case i just load them off my ipod

THANK you turingtest2. This worked--after updating all MS files on the computer and Itunes still didn't work. I deleted it and still couldn't reinstall as manual administrator and STILL got MSVCR80.dll message. Ended up following your list of deletions and reinstalled. Everything came back in to Itunes and it works fine.

1st: I will never update itunes again unless it is absolutely necessary. 2nd: Spotify is on my list to try. 3rd:This is the second time in 12 months I've wasted 2222222222 much time trying to solve an itunes official sabotage. 4th: I am still without a functioning itunes after trying many of the offered fixes. 5th: if manzana cannot manage a standard update for itunes then what does that say about the rest of their products? Last: their is a life without Apple and an apple a day may keep the doctor away but it sure will bring you a lot of headaches.

So glad I came here and saw your post. After doing 2 system restores and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes it still wasn't working. Taking off all the apple apps and then starting over worked. This resolved the issue for me! My phone is backed up and I'm feeling relieved!

All I did was a system restore. I found a restore point from about Jan. 22 or so. When it restarted, iTunes came up with an update and I just closed out of it. The previous version I had works, my library is all there, etc etc.
