I also have the missing MSVCR80.dll after a failed update but before following the suggested repair method could anyone tell me if all the cd's that I have downloaded will disappear. I have not purchased from iTunes so I'm not sure if my music is on any database or will there still be backup files in explorer?

I have the same missing file issue as everyone in this thread. I've followed the process outlined, but cannot uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. Even after numerous attempts and re-boots, it stays sitting in the control panel taunting me. I can't delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ either - I assume because I can't uninstall. Frustrating. Anyone have any ideas?
You should be able to continue with the next step even if AMDS doesn't uninstall. Most people have found that the subsequent reinstall works perfectly. If not then you may be able to repair and then remove AMDS, or you could try deleteing the recommended folders while in safe mode.

I have the same problem but my concern is that my whole CD library is on my Ipod and Itunes. If I uninstall, will I lose all of that too?
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I removed all that you suggested, and now to install iTunes it says I need to have Apple Aplilcation Support on there. How do I get that back?

It should have come in as part of the reinstall. You could try going into programs & features and running a repair on iTunes now, or reinstall, or uninstall and then reinstall. Offhand I don't have anything else to suggest. 😐
