Touch ID doesn't work after iOS 7.1 Update

After installing iOS 7.1 Touch ID stopped working. When I put my finger on the sensor nothing happens.

I already tried rebooting and switching Touch ID on and off. None of that seemed to work. Is there anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Update: Right now I'm trying to set up a new fingerbrint but it doesnt even start scanning when I put my finger on. It just doesnt do anything. I have a feeling that the sensor might be broken...

The TouchID-Software has been changed and maybe parts of the proximity-sensoring where tweaked to lower tolerances. Funny as it may sound, my toes (usually slightly cooler than my fingers) work 100%, no matter what temperature the Device itself has while using my fingers fails once their temperature rises a little in the afternoon.

Of course the hardware plays a role in here since there are of course production tolerances but I guess the temperature is the right trail here. Maybe Apple wanted to avoid "hacks" like the one issued by the CCC, where people took a latex print of a finger to unlock the phone and went a bit too far.

It is even more amazing that people think this issue can be solved by spamming the same message over and over again. Sensors are underlying slight tolerances and using them means their information has to be interpreted respecting that. I am sure Apple will fix that issue but until then a temporary solution is to try and use other areas like i.e. the side of a finger joint (wich is slightly cooler than the fingertips) instead of running into a store to get a new hardware that could also fail if the calibration would be changed in the other direction.

I'm having the same problem!!!

I'm from Brazil, and last year I bought my i phone 5s in Orlando. Until today everything was alright with the Touch ID. But last friday I updated the IOS to 7.1, and today it just stop working completely. I removed the fingerprints that was register e tried to register new ones, but it didn't work. I try to register e nothing happen! Simply doesn't work anymore. I won't restore the cellphone because people are saying that it doesn't work either. If someone knows how to solve this, help us, or APPLE say something about it!!
