Touch ID doesn't work after iOS 7.1 Update

I too have the same problem. It is most probably related to overheat because the phone's backside temprature is higher than it was before the upgrade to iOS7.1! ..

Are these faulty hardwares that need replacements ?

The phone only heated up during the update, you get the same numbers of hours of use.

The finger print sensor in my new iPhone 5S works far better than my old one ever did, I have to assume the old one was marginal and no longer meets spec under 7.1.

I'n from brazil and have the same problem on my iphone 5S.

Tryed everything, restore from backup, restore just the contacts from icloud.. just BIG FAILS!!

And it seems that this apple did not see anything!!

Adding my iphone 5s to the people , after updating to ios 7.1 my touch id not working , the home buttom freezed same if i have iphone 5 without touch id, and apple are not here s always .

My 5s touch ID died with the update like the others. I do find that it works reliably when it is plugged into the power cord. It immediately fails when unplugged. Maybe the problem is related to power?

I am also facing the same issue. Only works when connected to charger.

And the solution is the same. Take it to an Apple store and they will replace it if they can't fix it.

Wrong! Apple does read this, they even called me pointing to this thread.

None of the Apple employees who read the forum in their official capacity have anything to do with engineering or support. You have obviously never developed sensor related hard- and software.

It was an official call from apple, so some of them seem to be interested in this forum.
