IOS 7.1 iphone 4S wifi not available .. help..

Had the same problem, went into the store was out of warranty (well, if I had bought it in Australia it would have been covered but I bought mine when I was in the US, and is not covered under the ACCC ruling).

Wanted to charge me $225 to replace it with the same, faulty, model. I declined.

Tried to find feedback/complaints but the chat reps were useless and unhelpful.

Used to be an apple fan, spent over 10k on laptops, phones and ipads over the years but the pinciple of the matter is they have a product thats defective and not willing to support or rectify the mistakes.

I am doing what I can only do as a consumer, and purchasing a nexus5. When my macair/macbook/ipad are obsolete, will not be buying Apple again.

If any Apple person reads this (doubtful!), you should really learn how to provide customer service.

I am going to add to this fourm saying my iphone 4s is completely destroyed. I cannot turn on the phone sometimes, it turns off by it self, I have text messages which receive late, and my wifi is unstable/disconnects, and freezes!!!!!

I tried the hairdryer trick but it didn't work. Then I saw another post about removing the apostrophe from the device name on the iphone 4S. I renamed it without the apostrophe, turned it off and then turned it back on and...the WiFi works now!!! We'll see how long it works.

My happiness was short lived. The iphone 4S wifi stopped working after about 24 hours. And now we're getting a message that the iPhone has been lost and erased! Dang, I thought the fix would last.

Now a days WiFi is completely dead. So I went to a specialist who opens these things up and did it for free. couldnt find what was wrong with it.

To fix wifi problem on iphone 4S heat the iphone with a hair dryer until the overtemp warning comes on. Be carefull not to melt anything. Keep pressing the home button until the overtemp warning shows up. Power off phone when the warning comes up. Let the phone cool off. Power up and it should work I just did it for my wife.

I had the same problem too around this time of the year.

Here is my solution:

1. Take your iPhone 4s
2. Warm it up with a hair blower for about 5 minutes until you get a message that says: "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it"
3. Shut it down
4. Put it in freezer for about 15 minutes
5. Turn it on
6. voila!

This happend with my iphone. The wi-fi doesn't work anymore.

Someone has already figured out the solution?

Many people have posted the solution: heat it up (I don't have a hair-dryer, so held it in front of the vents of my heater for about 4 minutes) and then freeze it for 15 minutes. It works 😮. I tried all the other suggested fixes, including removing the apostrophe, reset network settings, reboots, etc etc and a full factory reset which only made it go slower. I am hoping this will work until I the 6 is released 🙂

I just tried the hair dryer / freezer approach, and now my battery appears to be dead. I've had it plugged into a charger for 30 minutes, but it won't turn on. It only flashes the battery icon. ... Is there any hope that my battery will work, or did the hot/cold cycling send it over the edge?

Nevermind! It just turned back on with 14% battery and, more importantly, the wifi is no longer greyed out!

Have bought and loved many Apple products over the years.

Now my iPhone 4s is fried following recent update with no wifi.

I will NOT be buying another apple phone.

I will be buying an Xperia by Sony.

Goodbye and Good riddance Apple.
