IOS 7.1 iphone 4S wifi not available .. help..

This is going to make lots of people mad and I think that Mr. Jobs will be turning over in his grave. I updated to IOS7.1 and WiFi stopped working. Since I have lots of knowledge in electronics, I know that updates often cause breaches in configurations if not thoroughly tested before offering to clients. After trying lots of possibilities to restore my wifi, I decided to chat with an Apple Advisor. After 30 minutes of being told that my phone was out of warranty, and that I would have to pay 300$ to get a new one after pying 700$ for a new phone, I told the guy that I was not going pay again for an Iphone that lasts only 1 year and 21 days because its out of warranty. He then transferred me to his supervisor and we agreed to replace the phone for free because I told him that I would buy a Samsung instead of another Iphone. But this is not all. When I got the phone, everything was working great with IOS7.0 for 3 days, then I decided to test my theory. Upgrade to IOS7.1, wham... no more Wifi... Called the Apple hotline and told the advisor and his supervisor that the phone was not working... they got a bit mad at me telling me that it was not the upgrade... so they sent me another Iphone. Again everything was working great with IOS7.0... today I decided to upgraded to IOS7.1 and guess what... tomorrow I will call back and have them send me another one... oh and they told me that no downgrade is available from Apple... This is why they replace the 700$ Iphone with a new one... I will keep you up to date on how many Iphones they will send me in all

You guys only ran in to this problem when upgrading to 7.1 but if you do a little search you'll find that lots of us already encountered it after updating to 7.0x

I'd been running my 4S on 7.06 for 5 weeks when the problem suddenly occurred.

TYhe blow dryer trick seemed to work but the next day it was back again. I've done it multiple times now but the problem always comes back. Just outside the warranty period. Which means I've been paying $500 for a phone which only lasted me a year.

If Apple would play it fair and acknowledge the problem and repair/exchange faulty devices for free I would be fine with it. But instead this greedy company acts as if it's not their fault and wants their customers to pay for repair.

It's not the first time they've done this and it probaly won't be the last either.

Why didn't anyone warn me about burning my thumb when trying to switch it off after heating it!!!!

The hairdryer worked acouple of weeks, but now wifi and bluetooth becoming more and more instable, I went to Apple Berlin and swapped for 199€ to a new one with again 64GB.

I have same issue, wifi is not available after installing an update, could anybody tell me, is apple given any solution to this problem. please help if somebody know it, I have tried all method, resetting all settings, flight mode etc.

Even after telling Apple Support that the IOS7.1 permanently disables the wifi on my IPhone 4S, they replaced it for a third time telling me it was not IOS. Free of charge even if it's out of warranty. When I got the first two replacements, the wifi worked up until I upgraded from IOS7.0 to 7.1. Then, no more wifi. I have had the third unit for 2 days now and wifi works great with IOS7.0 and as I told them, I won't do the upgrade. Everybody should request a free replacement even if the unit is out of warranty because this is a scam to sell more units at half price. Believe me, they replaced the first out of warranty unit because I told them I would buy a Samsung before buying another Apple. No downgrade is available from Apple and this is the only way to fix the problem or wait until the other upgrade in June.

me too....got the same case with you .... only iphone 4s got trouble and nothing still with ipad

I have done the same things to my 4s because I am having the same problems. It will connect for an hour and then lose connection. I have notice this started right after the new 7.1 update. I have also notice that when it's not connecting to the wifi that the back of the phone gets real hot and I have to turn it off to cool it down. Once I turn it back on after 30 mins it connects to wifi but goes through the same process again in two hours. Will take it to the apple store this week to see if they have any remedy.....

Is there anyone try IOS7.1.1 to fix the WIFI GRAY OUT? I just upgrade to IOS7.1.1 and my blower/freezer result still working.

I didn't upgrade to 7.1.1 because I'm afraid that the magic will be gone. Ever since I tried the blow drier method, it's working fine. So I'm not going to upgrade I guess... If and only if the wifi stops working by itself, only then will I upgrade to 7.1.1 which I'm sure is not going to fix it, I'll simply apply the blow drier method again and hope that it'll work again :/

around 1 month plus ago I upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS 7.1, everything was working good untill suddenly after 2 weeks, my wifi stop funtioning, which is connects only to few know wifi not all, then suddenly gray out, but my wifi starts working when and if I factory reset but just for few hours only 😟 then again gray out, last night i upgraded to 7.1.1 in the apple website i went to see the fixes for IOS 7.1.1 nothing mentioned about wifi and after 2 hours the page has removed from apple website. I even erase my whole phone today thought of virus or something but still same problem, geting tired of this situation.
