IOS 7.1 iphone 4S wifi not available .. help..

Did you already try to only reset network settings as described in this message in this central 'WIFI greyed out' topic?

Has anyone tried updating to the latest iOS 7.1.1 and then checking if the WiFi problem has been solved ?

I am guessing they might have slipped in this bug-fix without mentioning it in the description of the update.

If no one has done it yet, please reply, I am willing to sacrifice my iPhone 4S and risk loosing all its data for the good of humanity 😀

I will take a backup ofcourse but who knows what might happen 😟

Upgraded to iOS 7.1.1 via iTunes (since OTA will not work without WiFi 😉). This didn't solve the problem... It got 'worse' with me. Before the upgrade, the iPhone saw the networks but couldn't join, now after the upgrade the WiFi switch is simply greyed out...

The hairdryer trick works, Tested this on another iPhone with the same problem and I do have WiFi without any problems for 3 weeks now after doing the hairdryer-freezer trick...

The hairdryer trick also works on iOS 7.1.1... I just did it on the fresh-upgraded 4S and WiFi is back...

For Real My 4S went south after update as well! grayed out! Was told it was the chip ,need new phone, cost to much to fix. NOT!! I heated it up with a hair dryer till overheat warning came on turned it off and put it in the fridge for about 1/2 hour turned it on an Badda Bing It has been working for 3 days now without a problen! ( I was also told not to do it! That it might cause damage) Well it didn't and I have wifi what did I have to lose . Now if we could only get free from the network carriers that have our phones locked to their service

Yeh Do you know about a clean mother board that is not networked locked and can use sims from any carrier if the apn and mms proxy are accessable??
