I tried it and succeed to reproduce this bug. (On my iPhone 5s)

When app store closed network activity icon active on home screens again.

But then the network indicator will stop when enter any app except it's loading data.

Even I killed all apps from multitasking bar.

There was three ways to solve this prolem.

1. Open app store and install any app,

now you can close app store from multitasking bar and wait until the installation done,

2. Reboot your iDevice, hope you could solved problem right here.

Do the following step if the problem persist

3. Restore your iDevice.

Phew...I hope apple will fix it in IOS 7.1.2 .

Hi

I have had exact same issue on my 5s. Tried chatting with apple guys 3 times. They tried every possible procedures avaliable in settings. It didn't help. I was asked to take the phone to the service centre, which I did today.

This bug appeared when I updated to 7.1.1 from 7.0.4.

The temporary fixes were

1. Restart the phone.

2. Reset the network settings.

3. Reset/Erase all settings.

4. Restore iPhone, and use it as a fresh device.

All of the above provided a couple of days.

Battery drain was pretty high.

Lets see what will they do. They are going to keep it for a week and hopefully encounter the same problem and then replace the phone. But this whole process has wasted so much time.

Restart your iOS device.

Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.

Tap and Forget this Network.

Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.

Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.

Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.

Update your device to the latest version of software.

Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.

Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:

previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords

recently used Bluetooth accessories

VPN and APN settings
