"Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device to import them." My iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 and I'm using iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3

"Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device to import them." That's the new error message when I plug in my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 into the MacBook Pro running iPhoto '11 v.9.4.3. My Mac OSX is still 10.8.5.

So, I unlock the iPhone by entering the "passcode" before I plug it into the MBP and still iPhoto does nothing. At least it doesn't issue the error message above.

I've checked both iPhoto preferences and those for Photos and Camera in the Settings on the iPhone. There doesn't seem to be anything to change this lack of connectivity.

What next please?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

1. Turn on your computer and then open iphoto.

2. Enter iphone passcode to open your iphone.

3. Plug your iphone into your computer.

4. Click "OK" to the message that photos cannot be imported.

5. Click "Trust" this computer on your iphone.

6. Unplug iphone

7. Replug iphone

If this fails, repeat steps 3-7 until it works.

(I have to repeat it several times, but it eventually accepts my iphone and allows me to import my photos)

This can't seriously be an option to this case. You call this a solution? It worked for me in iphoto after more than a dozen tries. And you have to to that every time!

itunes still does not recognize my iphone or my ipad.

I always thought you can depend on apple but this is a serious letdown...

So please please fix this with an update, apple products always should be compatible...

You're running an OS that's five years behind the current one, and a photo manager that hasn't been sold or developed for more than two years, with a current phone and phone OS, so I wouldn't hold my breath for an update to either iPhoto or OS. 10.7
