"Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device to import them." My iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 and I'm using iPhoto '11 v 9.4.3

"Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device to import them." That's the new error message when I plug in my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 into the MacBook Pro running iPhoto '11 v.9.4.3. My Mac OSX is still 10.8.5.

So, I unlock the iPhone by entering the "passcode" before I plug it into the MBP and still iPhoto does nothing. At least it doesn't issue the error message above.

I've checked both iPhoto preferences and those for Photos and Camera in the Settings on the iPhone. There doesn't seem to be anything to change this lack of connectivity.

What next please?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

This nor the other ones don't work for me. I have iPhone5 with 10.1.1 (should not have updated, it seems), MacBookPro with 10.7.5 and iPhoto 11 v. 9.4.3
Eliminated the passcode, trusted the device, and iTunes nor iPhoto won't sync. I am syncing via USB cable and don't want to sync over iCloud.
Btw, I can not take off Search my iPhone, either, as I get an error message.
Any suggestions anyone, apart from could we get a little fix here ?
Should I de-grade to the previous version where everything worked?

And to add to the previous, I can not connect the iPhone to iTunes, version 12.2.2.25 - which means, I can NOT back up the phone, reset networks connections, etc. I can see from the system settings that iPhone is connected via USB, so that channel is working. I tried Terminal to check for hosts file, the answer I got there is no hosts file. I would be grateful for some advice how to solve this, as I can not loose all information in the phone.

Hi

I have the same problem, and this fix worked temporarily with iPhoto - my photos were imported after several attempts, although it reverts to not recognising my iPhone after, but it hasn't been recognised by iTunes at all. I have also tried the reset network settings fix below, to no avail. Can you help?

I have a Macbook 10.8.4; an iPhone 5s running OS 10.1.1; iTunes 11.3.1(2) and iPhoto 9.4.2

thanks!

I have had the same problem since upgrading to 10.1.1, but got to import my photos by a very strange procedure:

- I connected my iPhone5 to the computer with the USB cable

- I kept the operator connection and didn't connect to the WiFi

- from Settings I activated the personal hotspot from the phone

- then I trusted my computer, and that went through.

- and voilà, everything worked, I could connect to iTunes, iPhoto, computer, iCloud without a problem.

Then I switched the hotspot off, and the problem returned.

I still wonder what is going on, and haven't solved the issue permanently. I have discussed this with my phone operator, changed my SIM card, but no success.
