quicken for mac

I know there has been a lot of discussion about this subject...but I am new to Macs. I don't even know how to tell if I have lions, mnt lion, ect. on this mac! I thought it was ios something or other. So as you can see I am a novice and definitely on a learning curve. = )

I am a faithful user of Quicken for Windows and now want to continue using Quicken, but not hearing good things about Essentials at all.

My needs...

I have several accounts that I take care of, besides my own...and within those accounts are the usual, checking, savings, credit card, etc.

So I am trying to figure out my options. I don't even care if I have to start from scratch on my mac, so transfering data from windows to mac is not an issue!

thanks for any advice

That "number" would already be huge ... there have been approximately 3,650 days elapsed so far.

From the App Store's Quicken 2017 writeup:

I have been using Quicken 2017 for Mac since it was released in October 2016 with no issues at all. Of course, I do not profess to use each and every capability of the software, but it's been just fine for me.

I am going to revive this old thread in hopes that other Quicken '07 users will see it. After todays WWDC presentation, I am fearful that the days of the '07 version are numbered. I think High Sierra is going to eliminate 32 bit programs and I am fairly sure '07 is not 64 bit. This means we will have to replace it with something. Looking at the Quicken pages, it looks like Quicken 2017 is another useless version. I'm looking for ideas for a replacement. We have at least until fall to find something. I'm not even sure Quicken 2017 is 64 bit. I know I won't upgrade at least one machine until I find something suitable so I can stall longer if necessary. Please offer suggestions if you have any.

I reread your unfriendly post again and I see your point but I wonder about it. I hope you're right. I have used Quicken since it was released maybe even on the old Apple II days, so I know how long it has been out. I hope it is indeed 64 bit. I would not buy from the App Store. Are you sure you're not talking about Quicken 2017? We have been warned Quicken was letting 2007 version die. Check their web page.

Regarding the Mac's Operating System, it is known as OS X (as in Operating System - ten). Click the Apple icon in the upper left on the menu bar, then "About This Mac". You should see OS X 10.#.#.

The current version is OS X 10.9.2. OS X 10.9 is known as Mavericks. OS X 10.8 is Mountain Lion. OS X 10.7 was Lion. OS X 10.6 was Snow Leopard.

Regarding Quicken, you might be able to use Quicken Essentials for Mac by Intuit described here:

http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance-software/mac-personal-financial-softw are.jsp

This software, which originated at mint.com (which Intuit bought and merged with Quicken) is somewhat less sophisticed than Quicken for Windows. There is also a Quicken for Mac version, but it is not quite as well publicized by Intuit.

Quicken Essentials is generally loathed by members of this forum that have experience with it.

Here are your Mac solutions:

For $15, you can purchase a full copy of Quicken 2007 for Mac Intel (Snow Leopard, Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks):

Here is Intuit's instructions for converting your Quicken PC data file for use in Quicken for Mac:

I have the latest download for Mac. I think it is ios 8.1

It is not, IOS (any version) is for an iPad or an iPhone. OSX is for Macs.

Provided you have any version of OSX greater than 10.6 it will work. You just need to look up your version number.

To find it just click the Apple icon in the upper left on the menu bar, then "About This Mac".

I have OSX Yosemite 10.10.1. I had Quicken 2012 for an old PC that died. I need to put everything on my Mac starting with this year (I don’t need to go back). I’ve read some reviews of Quicken for Mac for 2015 and all are bad. What should I do? I also read that one person wrote:

So I run Quicken 2015 Premier for Windows by running it in a VMware Fusion 7instance. If you want to find out more about this process you can read my article: How to Run Quicken for Windows on a Mac.

What do you suggest?
