Why do lightning cables break so easily?

To cut to the chase, my third lightning cable broke today. I plug it in and nothing happens. This has happened with all three the same way and it seems they just keep breaking faster and faster.

And don't tell me it's my phone because it charges fine on my ihome.

And don't tell me it's my fault because I'm fought with the cable or something.

I take pristine care of my cables

What I wanna know is if there's any more durable third party chargers out there?? Or a better way to prevent this from happening?

Because these chumps at apple obviously either don't know what they're doing or they're trying to scam us with chargers like they do with adding loads of "other data" to our iPhones.

Now let me go head over to my local apple store to shell out 30 dollars for another lightning cable that's gonna break in 3 weeks.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

I've literally gone through about 5 cables from various brands, from apple to off brands and I'm getting sick of it. I've wasted so much money on replacement cables. I don't think my old Apple cables ever broke, but these lightning ones are garbage. If anyone has a suggestion on one that lasts for than 3 or 4 months please let me know.

That's happens to my twin gave me a 6s plus with 5 cables and 1 factory plug adaptor and not even 30 day later I'm down to 1 they all broke same day so i thought that's ****** up so I carefully cut away the plastic at end of cable and all of them seem to come apart easily they sandwiched 8 small soders ( 1 per gold finger ) and 8 small soders for the reverse side so that 16 small soders to they very edge of curcit bord equalling a ****** weak design between circuit board and tip ........ the best I've done is cut some gorilla tape in to 1/4. Wide for 1 1/2 inches or so it wrapped the very plastic tip then left same tape with 1 1/2 with now wrapping it down cable So when I grab the ghetto lookin cable end I can easy unplug it always pulling it out from the very plastic tip even when I can't reach it because. My loving twin gave this phone ( there old one ) with new otter box case

Solution is to buy lots of cables and toss them when they stop working. It is not your fault. My more thoughtful comment on this topic was just deleted by Apple as "unconstructive" and a "rant," so this one probably will also be deleted. Hosever, I consider it constructive to tell people it is normal for your cables to break or stop working and you should just buy lots of them, rather than only being able to see the comments from people who say their cables are perfect. I am surprised at how livid Apple's deletion made me. My blood is boiling, and I feel I cannot get accurate information about Apple products going forward.

I've been using Apple mobile device cables for 17 years. None of them have ever broken*. So it is far from "normal" for cables to break.

*Actually one did, back when 30 pin cables had latches to hold them into the iPod. My wife pulled on the cable rather than squeezing the sides of the connector to release the lock and the cable pulled free from the connector, which was still in the iPod. Probably why Apple eliminated to latches in later 30 pin cables.

Absolutely, pursue warranties, especially if you have expensive Apple-manufactured cables. Probably not worth the time and effort for most of the non-Apple ones. My intended point was to be sure to have backups. I buy the Apple-certified ones with the best reviews, not the Apple-manufactured ones, because I prefer particular configurations.

Those cables are really not great! Had the same problem all the time until I found pullproof.

Or, you can take the spring out of a cheap ballpoint pen, one that's run out of ink and your were going to through away anyway and thread it around your cable near where it meets the lightning connector. In addition to costing almost nothing, it also prevent you from kinking the cable.

***** I came here to find solution because my original Apple cable is also breaking right after warranty.

I see no good advice or sollution here.

If out of warranty and you break a peripheral or the primary device, the only solution is to get a repair/replacement. What alternative suggestion were you expecting? If you broke it, then you replace it.

Are you having a problem with the charger or the cable?

Why would you shell out anything for something that is covered under warranty?
