Why do lightning cables break so easily?

I've been using Apple mobile device cables for 17 years. None of them have ever broken*. So it is far from "normal" for cables to break.

*Actually one did, back when 30 pin cables had latches to hold them into the iPod. My wife pulled on the cable rather than squeezing the sides of the connector to release the lock and the cable pulled free from the connector, which was still in the iPod. Probably why Apple eliminated to latches in later 30 pin cables.

Absolutely, pursue warranties, especially if you have expensive Apple-manufactured cables. Probably not worth the time and effort for most of the non-Apple ones. My intended point was to be sure to have backups. I buy the Apple-certified ones with the best reviews, not the Apple-manufactured ones, because I prefer particular configurations.

Except for my car charger, I've never bought a non-Apple one. They always seemed like a penny wise, pound foolish sort of proposition.

Those cables are really not great! Had the same problem all the time until I found pullproof. It really made a huge difference. You just clip it on the cable and it protects it from breaking. You can look into that on their website https://pullproof.com

It's in my opinion the best option until apple comes up with a better product...

I've never used anything like that with any of my cables going back 12 years and never had that kind of damage on any of them. Ever. Seems like a waste of good money unnecessary product to appeal to people who don't take proper care of things. Some kind of ripoff company.

If out of warranty and you break a peripheral or the primary device, the only solution is to get a repair/replacement. What alternative suggestion were you expecting? If you broke it, then you replace it.

It depends how you handle them I have had iphones & ipads

For 7 years only ever had to replace one cable.

1 spare always in car

I still have my iPhone Cable for 3 years and it's still good...

In my opinion Apple wouldn't do a product end sell it before testing....

It's a fancy way of hiding a spelling mistake.

I have it on good authority that"boi" means "Ox" in Catalan. So maybe there is a deeper meaning.
