iTunes 11.2 Crashes On Startup

Allowed the suggested upgrade from iTunes 11.1.5 to 11.2. Unfortunately, iTunes crashes on startup. I have attemted fixes for previous versions of iTunes to no avail (updating Quicktime, and adding "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to the PATH).

I can successfully launch iTune in safe mode by holding the CTRL-SHIFT keys down.

Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone know what to do?

turingtest2: Are you serious? Surely Apple doesn't expect thousands of users to follow the suggestion

of uninstalling all components! How about a nice clean shortcut to how to re-install the older version (11.1.4 in my case) from apple.com. Now that would be helpful. Hopefully Apple corrects the issues with this new version and has a very clean method to have it installed.

I'm sure Apple don't expect thousands of users to have a problem with the update. My user tip includes links to their official advice along with other useful resources:

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

More links to recent versions of iTunes as requested, however to roll back successfully you may still need to fully clean out the group of folders listed in the second box of the user tip.

Uninstalling and reinstalling software is a standard troubleshooting technique when a piece of software has failed to install or update properly.

If we delete the named folders will the existing library be deleted?

Please read the user tip linked to. The folders that should be deleted are the locations where the iTunes software and supporting components are installed. These are separate from the location from where your libaray and media is stored. The user tip includes this information and links to a suggested backup routine. You should be backing up your iTunes library and any other personal data on a regular basis.

I'm going to run a different program until they fix this. Can't delete my folders.

Again, please read the user tip or visit HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. The process does not touch your library folders, which you ought to backup anyway.

How will "they fix this"? Fixing any problem is in your hands.
