Why am I getting a popup window asking me to login to mevio?

Not long after I start Itunes, a popup window appears telling me to access a podcast I need to login to www.mevio.com. In the several years I have been using itunes, specifically for podcasts, I have never seen this window before. It will not allow me to make any entry, nor close it, nor close itunes. itunes will show as not responding on the windows task manager. I ran the repair function available in Windows Software and nothing changed. I am unable to run itunes for anything - play music, watch podcasts, etc.

Once you have figured out which podcast(s) are causing the problem (by right-clicking and selecting Copy URL from the drop down menu, as others have noted), you don't need to take the drastic step of deleting the podcast entirely!

Instead, go to the "My Podcasts" view of your podcast list, select the podcast, and click the Gear icon. This will give you a Podcast Settings dialog. At the bottom is a button called "Defaults." Click that, and in the "Check for new episodes" popup, select "Manually."

This will keep iTunes from looking for new episodes, and should solve the problem. At least it solved it for me!

There's a very simple and clean solution to this problem.

1) In iTunes, export your podcast subscriptions to OPML:

a) View Podcasts in "List" mode

b) FIle | Library | Export playlist

2) Load the resulting Podcasts.opml file (an XML file) into a text editor.

3) In the text editor, search the file for "mevio".

4) In iTunes, delete/unsubscribe any podcast associated with mevio.com..

If you see the mevio.com password prompt then you have episodes from a podcast that was stored on their servers at one point and iTunes is still trying to look to it for updates. You need to edit the podcast URL in your subscription, or block your computer from trying to access that site, or remove the episodes from the podcast section of your library (you can reassign them as Music if you wish).

Found the fix. In your podcast list in iTunes, on the very left is a column of dots, or circles with an exclamation point ⚠ in them.

click on the circled exclamation point.

a popup will tell you what it issue is. some of them will say "...mevio.com..." delete those from your list. tada!

other popups will point to other bad feed links, or tell you it stopped updating because you haven't listened in a while etc. up to you to decide what to do with them.
