Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days. I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end. It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does. I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times. I have restarted my computer and started over. Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring. Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning. I am at my wit's end at this point. It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks!

I think people would be more patient and understanding if Apple at least officially acknowledged there was an issue. There hasn't been any evidence yet that this is actively being fixed. Considering we've all paid money for this service and clearly enjoy using it (when it works), it's difficult not to become a tad frustrated. If the "Tech Supports" are just dumb employees who can't get information up the chain, then that's clearly an issue within Apple's internal communication and should be improved. It's not wrong to expect a good level of customer service for a paid subscription.

Totally agree.

I think we'd all be a lot more patient if Apple actually acknowledged the problems rather than continually denying them.

If they updated their service page to say "Yeah guys, we've got a problem" but we're working on it - give us a week/two weeks/whatever.

Denying the problems and asking us all to do things which will blatantly not fix the issue isn't acceptable.

Unfortunately your point about them being busy with Yosemite and the other beta software is absurd - Production systems come before development ones, always. Besides, lots of the new features in iOS8/Yosemite are cloud based and require a rock solid backbone - something Apple don't have right now with iTunes match. Fix the broken things first...

Just my 2 cents.

aafter the usual run-around (turn match in and off, recreate the .itl file) I've now been told by support to try creating a new user profile and trying match from there. If that doesn't work the next option is apparently a refund. I mean, seriously. ive been directed to do hours of fiddling about and no admission of any problem on their side....

Exactly the same issue here... told to create a new profile on my mac... after hours and hours of messing around doing things i knew ultimately wouldn't resolve the problem, they have credited my account with 3 songs.... as that was what i was trying to upload at the time.

No official fix for the problem, and i can't use the service at all to add any new music.

Like azurehum mentioned, iTunes Match did start working again for me a couple of days ago after being down/useless for about a week. I have probably uploaded around 30 things in the last couple of days, including a number of internet talk radio mp3 files that are each about an hour long. I generally upload these radio podcast files to the cloud so that I can listen to them on any of my devices and then I usually delete them from the cloud once I've listened to them in their entirety.

Anyways, long story short, things are working for some people now but clearly not all. I have noticed that a number of people that were actively posting to this thread have stopped posting in the last couple of days, which likely indicates that they are no longer experiencing the problem.

I can sympathize with those of you who are still experiencing problems. I will keep this thread opened and unsolved until people stop posting in here on a regular basis.

I have been online with about 3 technical support and was once transferred to a senior advisor... none of them could help. They just told me that match was working fine, they also sent me the link to the apple status page.

Its disappointing that they haven't even acknowledged the issue, i wouldn't mind if i thought it was on their radar for repair.

I have emailed back the advisor who emailed me today to ask if it was working to say that really i think a refund or partial refund of the service is in order.

Really irritated, and whats worse is there is no other way that i know to update my iPhone now with music other then turning it all off and going back to the old ways of updating it manually via iTunes.

Thanks for the update Darren, agree on all points.

Out of interest, how did you email them back? If I try and email back regarding my case their support site just crashes!! ... It's as though they really don't want to know!!

I definitely think a refund of some type is in order; I know it's not a lot of money - but it's so frustrating not being able to add new music, and I really don't want to have to go back to syncing. Worried about Yosemite/iOS8 with Handoff, etc., etc.... Apple are still struggling with Cloud services - not really moved on too well from MobileMe!!!

Stuart,

I had an email from itunesstoresupport@apple.com - i just replied directly to that address. They have replied once so far so they are getting it. If you have the case ref - stick that in your email and i would think they can cross reference it.

I don't want to go back to the sync system, especially seen as when match does work (even when its really slow) it is a good system.
