Match process stalling out at end

I've been using iTunes Match for about a year and a half and have started experiencing a new problem in the last couple of days. I've added a few new tracks to my library over the last couple of days and have attempted to "Update iTunes Match." However, the matching process is stalling out at the end. It looks like it's just about to finish but then it never does. I have downloaded the most up-to-date version of iTunes, I have stopped and restarted the "Update iTunes Match" process numerous times. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times. I have restarted my computer and started over. Etc. Etc. and the same problem keeps occurring. Last night, I let the matching process continue overnight and it still had not finished in the morning. I am at my wit's end at this point. It's only 11 new songs that I'm trying to get iTunes to Match. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to resolve this problem? Thanks!

Glad someone got it working. I've got a very large library of 19k songs. I won't be uploading them all again to apple. Part of the match service we are paying for is backup - deleting everything and re-uploading means it can't be relied on for that function.

I've had it for 18 months and it's often been buggy, and needed careful handling to deal with edits, and avoid duplicates. The outage at ios7 release was inconvenient, and now it's not working and support is directing me to take bizarre (and ineffective) steps to 'fix' the problem.

I also note that the promised UK iTunes Radio service (ad-free for match subscribers) has failed to appear. So - no radio, backup not working, and can't share new music between devices. What am I paying for exactly? The performance has too often been that of a beta product for me... I'm not hopeful of a resolution that will satisfy me at this stage.

I completely agree with you Steve, I shouldn't have had to do this and fortunately my library is small enough that I was able to test a theory that something stored in the cloud version of my iTunes library for Match was corrupt. I had noticed playlists duplicating in iTunes before I decided to reset clear everything, not sure if this is pointing to another issue however or it is just co-incidence.

The service is still far from perfect, while I'm glad I've managed to sync everything up just now, I'm also dreading adding more tracks. I'll do another test later as I've still got some music to add to my library to see what happens.

Apple is having everyone jump through hoops which I have tried many times. The problem is that the problem is on the Apple server side since songs that wouldn't upload for a week suddenly are now uploading. Although the service seems to have started working for me again, it still seems to be a roller coaster as to whether it works at a given point in time. The problem here is communication. Since Apple is having server issues but still indicate the service is up and running fine, people waste their time with troubleshooting steps that won't work until Apple fixes the server side issues. There may be several different issues going on now, but without a valid status, there is no way to know.

I am having the same issue as everyone else, in the UK here. I have tried several suggestions like limiting upload bandwidth, recreating my library etc and nothing seems to work.

From what I can see iTunes is attempting to connect to 17.154.65.49:443 and it keeps trying to resolve the address over and over again. The apple upload server is just constantly resetting or refusing my connection to it.

Eventually my iTunes Match will restart the process from Step 1 again and will go around like that all day unless I stop it.

I am using an Apple Airport Extreme to get on to the internet so I know that is not my router preventing my connection.

Hope this info can shed some light on this very dark subject for us all 😟

Hi Kieran,

I feel your pain, It appears most likely what is happening is that iTunes is waiting for a slot to upload which is why it continually connects to that address and the process restarts. I'm guessing the servers that handle uploads are being swamped and have been for some time, my tracks uploaded but did so overnight which may explain why it worked for me sometime between 12am and 6am this morning while I was asleep.

I have been trying for over a week now. I have about 15 DJ sets that will never match and needing to be uploaded. I have deleted all of them from iTunes and have just 1 of them in there trying to upload.

When that one goes up I'll try a few more but I'm not very confident in the service any more. What makes it even worse is my subscription renewed 2 weeks again just before this all started 😁

Hi Ryan, been monitoring the thread since having the same problem for the last week (stalling on matching 5 songs and going round on a loop) however, tried it again just now and it has matched the remaining 5 songs and now uploaded the 2 CD's I ripped on Saturday.

Based in England and using the current version of itunes.

Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,

I have been having this issue since early this year. So while I'm not happy that others are experiencing these issues, I am glad that this is becoming wider spread so Apple will have the chance to remedy this. I have had to manually update iTunes Match to get things uploaded/matched for months. I have received the dreaded -3231 & -4010 errors ad nauseum. I have literally done every trick in the book. I called Apple Support probably 3 weeks ago & they said they're aware of this issue & are working on a fix. More than likely, it will be a new version of iTunes that is released to fix this issue. When? Who knows. But having had this issue persist for 6 months has not been fun. I think iTunes Match doesn't get the attention because it's not a huge money-maker for Apple. And with the announcement of iOS 8 & Yosemite, they're probably assigning 99% of their software folks on making those street-ready. The sad truth.

That all being said, I, like the rest of you, are displeased since this is a paid service & we're not getting the functionality that we paid for. Heck, Apple was prepared to charge me for the phone call since I didn't have AppleCare! Fingers crossed when the claim to be working on a fix, they're actually working on a fix. I honestly don't think there's a single thing any of us can do until that patch is released or their servers are fixed.

Right so somone on Macrumors.com had downloaded the same Netlimiter 4 program that I posted in an earlier post today and had confirmed that his iTunes hs showing the same behaviour.

This pretty much confirms that its a 100% server side issue and we are all pretty much screwed until Apple sort these problems out.
