Nano emits high-pitched whine or buzz

Do you guys have your replacement before they actually picked up your whining nano?
Have also a whining nano, and I want to have a replacement, but first they must register my serial number. It wasn't in their database :s

Yes, I'll get my replacement tomorrow, as a matter of fact TNT (Apple's EU courier) called me today: I've scheduled to pick it up on monday, 23.

To register your product just plug your nano in and iTunes should come up, you will have to fill a form to register it. It's that easy.

Has anyone else updated and eliminated the whine? I can't update mine until I get off work.

I've updated tonight and it seems to have made it much quieter. Maybe its my ears! I guess i'll have to monitor it.

NEW REPLACEMENT IPOD NANO VERY QUIET! =)

I just got back from the local Apple Store. My 4 GB iPod Nano had been making the high pitched whine noise. The first sales person I talked to looked a bit confused and wouldn't exchange my Nano. He sent me to the Genius Bar.

After a brief wait, the Genius happily exchanged my Nano for a brand new 4 GB unit. I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE NEW NANO IS COMPLETELY SILENT!

Thank God, this issue was very annoying. My advice to all of you out there who are still having this issue would be to keep trying for a replacement.

Of course. It didn't solve the issue. I've already contacted Apple to send it back (for the third time).

Oh well, hope the 4th is better. The firmware update has made the whine much quieter.

Seems a very odd fault with inconsistant fixes

I'll not get the fourth, I'll get my money back.
I will buy it again in a few weeks, perhaps.

I just got mine back from apple after 3 weeks of "repair". They replaced it. It does not whine like before. It is 95% better, because if I try really really hard then I think I can hear something, but it is by far NOWHERE NEAR as loud as before. Before it is was unbearable.

Just keep sending them back. I'm thinking that apple's first 10K or first batch were bad. Perhaps this new batch is better.

Oh and it came with F/W 1.02

I just installed the iPod nano software 1.1 update ("bugs fixed")... guess what? No whine! Before the update I could hear the annoying tone from an arm's length... no I can only hear a soft and hardly notable tone when I press the iPod nano directly to my ear.

Get the update (check iTunes 7)!
