Upgraded to iTunes 11.4 and now it won't sync my iPhone 5s-sync button is greyed out.

I upgraded to iTunes 11.4 today, and now I'm not able to sync my iPhone 5s. The sync button is greyed out. I tried reinstalling, reauthorizing, signing in again in iTunes and my iPhone. I also restored my phone twice...not sure what else to do. I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on an iMac Intel Core Duo. Thanks in advance for your help.

you have the greyed out button with the yellow "other" bar on the bottom too? have you tried any the fixes here? from what i understand its because of the kext not being written for 32 bit macs, which is whats causing the issue. the airTrafficHost seems to be the other problem. however with both of these installed, my phone will start syncing but not actually sync if that makes sense. it just endlessly hangs on the final step of syncing "waiting for changes to be made".

I assume you are talking to me...

This is what I posted on my issue at Re: System extension cannot be used

I was planning on going to the latest version of iTunes so I can up load IOS 8 on my iPod...

I went back to see it if could be uploaded again and the new version seems to be uploaded it said I have 11.4…but will it work right and can I get the new IOS 8 with this issue what ever it is?

No clue what this is and how to fix it any help on this?

Since I did not download IOS 8 on my iPod touch fifth-generation, it still works okay. But I still have iTunes 11.4...

So I assume that if I would go to iOS 8 on my iPod touch fifth-generation (which I will not at this time), I would have all the issues everyone else has even if it's not an iPhone.

So I'm guessing mine is the same issue with a different twist to it. The good news is my iPod touch works fine...the bad news is I can't get iOS 8.

Big UP to cwa2!

Without such people, as well as others who have added helpful explanations and support, I for one would be lost! As it is, I managed to get sync back.

Big DOWN to Apple! Yes, you're probably trying to force obsolescence on those of us with older machines, although benefit of the doubt says you didn't think through enough/do enough testing; ether way SHAME on you!

Ok, I followed all the instructions and the sync button was available again but still showing me as over capacity.

I plugged my phone into my work laptop which has iTunes 11.3 for windows and this was showing as over capacity so thinking it was something related to the ios 8 upgrade too I downloaded iTools and renamed the iTunes database file to .old then rebooted the phone.

When I went to resync tonight from my mac all was well again.

I'm now happy syncing my iPhones 4s on iOS 8 using My Intel Core Duo iMac running 10.6.8

Thanks for everyone who has helped.

Come on Apple...lets get this fixed in 11.5 / 8.1

my itunes 11.3.1 was working/syning fine, and then i installed itunes 11.4 and have the same problems as everyone else

my computer is a 2006 macbook pro 32-bit running 10.6.8

so, i had a question in regard to cwa2's fix of the problem (or anyone else who might know)

i tried to follow the steps, but when i get as far as :

" /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bu ndle "

its not ALL there, or more specifically....

" /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle " is there

but the trail ends there, there is no " /Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bundle "

should i remove the whole bundle?

i.e. remove "/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle " ?

because the other part, the " Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bundle " is missing !

thanks!

Thank you for your detailed guidance for resolving this vexing synching/etc. problem. The computer is an older Imac (2 GHz Intel Core Duo) running 10.6.8. I was following your instructions for what files to delete in addition to ITunes itself but note that you show this as one of the files -

/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bun dle

but what I find is just the bundle file - /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle - and I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if deleting this will do more than delete the specific file you've included in the list. This is a 48.5MB bundle. Not sure what I need to do about that. All the other files you listed are there as listed.
Thanks for whatever help you can provide about this!

Upgraded to iTunes 11.4 and now it won't sync my iPhone 5s-sync button is greyed out.
