iPhone not syncing mulitmedia after iOS 8 update

OS 10.7.5

iTunes 11.4 (18)

iPhone 5s iOS8

I just recently updated to iOS 8 and now I'm not able to sync my music and movies to my iPhone. The free space is not taken when the sync completes and the when selecting my iPhone and checking it's contents in iTunes, it shows both the music and video library that all the files that should be in there, but with an dashed circuit next to all of them (showing they were not synced).

Has anyone experienced this and what is the cause? Is this related to the iOS upgrade? More importantly, how can I resolve this?

Basically, I've only done a restart on both my iPhone and on my Mac after a restart in iTunes didn't work.

Edit: I should add that a few (less than 50) songs were actually added. What I did was remove all my movies and music prior to the iOS 8 update to clear space. Once the update went through (seems to have had no issues), I went to sync my playlists back. It was then I discovered that the files were showing they should be there, but were not actually synced.

For me I managed to fix all issues is I had to make a restore to a previous version the first time it fixed my music but my apps were messed up.

I had to click on uninstall on all my apps when my Iphone was plugged in, and then I went on the App store and redownloaded them one by one and syncing the phone after every few apps were installed to make sure it doesn't bug when I am all done. So far so good.

Just make sure the sync music box is checked after the restore, I thought my music was bugged again until I saw it was unchecked 😝.

good luck

If you don't want to lose your current data, you should look at the solution I posted in my previous post (in this thread).

First, try to sync your music as you normally would.

If you go to your music Library on your device, in the "songs" tab, and you see a Stop button by some of your songs:

try to play each song in the library (play one song and skip past each track until you finish the list), then try syncing again- everything should copy over. I did this while leaving my phone connected to iTunes. I dont know why you have to try to play the tracks first, but it works.

Did you have to change your iCloud password around the time you updated/upgraded?

Is all the music you are trying to sync purchased through the iTunes Store - or acquired elsewhere?

You might want to try signing out of the iTunes Store (within iTunes) and signing back in. On Macs, the option to sign out is in the "Store" file menu.

Also, when looking at your device in iTunes, click on the "Music" tab. Is "Sync" option checked? If you only toggle the "Manage my music" checkbox in the "Summary" tab, I don't think it re-checks the "Sync" box in the "Music" tab.

There are third-party programs that will allow you to see the data on your iPhone and copy it to your computer. You can extract photos, text messages, etc. If your wallpaper is saved to your photos, you can grab that.

However, to put this content back on your phone you'll have to go through iTunes, and iTunes won't let you put some things like messages back on your phone.

I use iExplorer, but there are other options. Make sure you research the product & get something legitimate. There are a lot of crappy fakes out there.

If you changed your password recently, iTunes may not know the new password which is why I suggested signing out and in again. Or maybe you share a computer with someone else, and the songs were purchased on another account, and that password was changed...

Anything could be the issue... but would make sense why nothing is getting written to your phone.

Also, on the Summary tab for your phone, click the "Reset Warnings" button. You may have turned off relevant warning messages at some point that may help you identify the issue.
