I selected Walking and Running but that is not showing as allowing MFP as a data source. Calories, yes. I've tried every option with a flame icon and nothing shows MFP as a data source. Shame. Want to "disconnect" and reconnect MFP to try that but there is no such option. Pretty frustrated.

MFP does not provide any walking or running data to Health. It provides a long list of nutrition data and weight. You'll need another app to provide walking and running data to Health.

While I don't know if fitbit will update their apps to communicate with HealthKit (and I expect them to - they'd be crazy not to!), you can get walking steps with the iPhone 6 and 6 plus - I'm getting walking data just from my plus right now - works like a charm.

I'm having lots of trouble with MFP sending duplicate/triplicate data. Hope they fix this soon as lots of my nutrition data is messed up

Don't hold your breath waiting for fitbit integration with health kit. I emailed them and this is the response I got. If you notice it doesn't even mention health kit.

We are working very hard to get our next-generation Fitbit app to market. While we do not have a firm date to share, know that the update is in progress, undergoing testing, and will be released as soon as it is ready. We are thrilled there is so much excitement and appreciate your patience as we go through this process.

At this time we don’t have an estimated availability date, but our website will be updated as soon on this matter.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,
Ralph M and the Fitbit Team

FitBit will add integration (they were mentioned at the Apple keynote announcing all this.) Going forward, I wouldn't even consider using any health/fitness related App that didn't integrate with HealthKit.

I am not exactly sure what kind of a future FitBit has for their products as I get both steps and stairs from my iPhone 6 without another gadget on me, but they may find a way to adapt.....

Keep in mind that the motion processor can't track sleep data while the Fitbit Flex can. I also think the Fitbit is going to be more accurate than an iphone. I have been using my iPhone 6 to track my steps and found myself leaving it on my office desk as I would go to the break room or to a co-workers office. That won't be an issue with a Fitbit either.

The iPhone won't track sleep and apparently neither will the Apple watch (since you will have to charge it every night.)

The iPhone 6 seems to do a pretty accurate job on tracking flights of stairs from my experience (not sure about steps.) I have a pretty good habit of picking up my phone when I leave my desk, but wearing the Fitbit was not a habit I was able to develop (and putting it on the wrist was even less likely.)

if you're like me, I don't keep my iphone with me 24/7, most of times they're on my desk, backpack, on a charger, somewhere laying around, I don't like stuff in my pocket at all. So it doesn't really track my all day activity, unless I am on the move, in a super market etc.

However I wear fitbit 24/7, even in the shower, so to me fitbit definitely gets more accurate data as far as steps and sleep cycle goes..

I don't know, I like my fitbit, and fitbit app, I can live without health app for now.. it doesn't really do anything new for me...

It's nice but it's not really designed to use by itself.

It's a place where all other apps can share/combine data

Just discovered an app called Lark that uses the data other apps have synced to Health and analyzes it for you. A little cute but pretty cool nonetheless.
