IOS 8 lost camera roll

I just did the IOS8 update on my Iphone 5s and now I have no album for camera roll and instead it has 'Recently Added' which only has 25 photos instead of my 1000+ photos I had originally before the update. I still have all my photos on the collections bit but not in an album like before the update.

Help please?

Yes, it has changed. The Camera Roll is gone. You can make your albums as before.

To delete photos only locally, turn off Photostream. The photos that remain visible are local. Delete as you like - Photostream versions will be unaffected as long as Photostream remains off. When you turn Photostream back on, the smaller Photostream copies will be restored to your device and interwoven with your local photos - no way to segregate them any more. But at least the large local versions will be deleted without removing them from the stream.

It's kludgy and inconvenient and you have to jump through these hoops each time, but it works.

I hope someone from Apple is policing this thread.

I SEE THIS AS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I have been a Mac OS user since System 7 and an iOS user since v2. I was thrilled about camera roll, thrilled about photostream, and I think Apple HAD the best photo organization platform out there with iOS 7. I think iOS 8 is a HUGE STEP BACKWARDS. I see what they were trying to do, but this implementation is downright awful. What's wrong with adding an option for "show photostream album" in the settings??? With this implementation, I have no way to know if a photo has been uploaded to Photostream or not. The only real way to know, is to check and see if it shows up on another device. I also have no way to delete photos from Photostream on iOS. I can only do this from Mac OS X now. I have talked to several long time iOS users and none of them are happy about this.

BRING BACK THE PHOTOSTREAM ALBUM!!!

The collections feature is useful in that it lets you see where and when photos were taken, but trying to find an old photo in collections is much more cumbersome than it was in camera roll. The reason why I keep all those 3,000 old photos is because it used to be easy. Having both roll and collections was perfect; replacing the roll with "recently added" was just dumb. Apple, you don't need to revise everything, and I hope all these complaints will motivate you to bring camera roll back, because we miss it dearly.

First, I want t Camera Roll back. I'm ******.

Second, but equally importantly, Photos isn't working at all properly.:

Collections isn't showing pics any more recent than August 2012. Update: my new pics just showed up ONE HOUR! After taking them!!!

while looking for my missing pics I tried recovering a Recently Deleted. It too took an hour to show up.

Agreed. I sent Apple feedback before posting here.

However, I think they could fix a lot of this by simply putting two little transparent icons on each photo. One could represent a phone and other a cloud. This tells if you if the pic is on the phone, the cloud, or both. Then, if you click and hold on the icon, it opens either the camera roll or the photostream... whichever. In any case, if they're going to do this moments crap, they still need some sort of a visual reference to indicate if the photo is on the phone, in the cloud, or both. Bad move Apple. :-(
