Me too. Cellular service works initially but goes to no service after a few hours.
I've been working on this issue too and tried all the work arounds identified the one that seems to work is plugging the device into a laptop with iTunes running....that worked but a bit useless if you want to have a tablet rather then a laptop-tablet.
Is there a way to downgrade in the interim?
Facing the same issue here as well, no service after iOS 8 update, wifi works fine. Was told to call Apple but since my iPad 2 isn't under warranty anymore I'd have to pay a fee just to speak to them.
Havent read through all the messages but a reboot kinda works if you are desperate like i am. I am travelling for a few days and don't use a mobile. My iPad is all I need to keep in contact. When my ipad status changes to 'no service' I have found a reboot has worked 4 out of 5 times today.
when I return home home I will explore the option to restore my device back to 7.
to all,
i executed the reset -> reset network settings and now everything is back to normal.
maybe this canhelp you too.
I'm seeing the same behavior. Seems like the reset action is just a temporary fix. The problem resurfaces when the iPad 2 comes out of Sleep mode. Checking Cellular Data settings, they are as follows:
I wonder if the Cellular settings could be tweaked to resolve this. Will try some variations to see what effect it has on this problem.
none of the workarounds (resetting, etc) worked so far - they are all temporary at best. I ended up rolling back to 7.1.2 and the problem went away. Just remember to putt your iPad in recovery mode (turn off, hold home button and plug usb cable in) otherwise yup will get stuck with error 3014. Don't think apple tested this iOS release well for older devices
I have this same problem with my AT&T iPad 2 after installing iOS 8. Rebooting restores the cellular connection reliably (so far), but is a work around, not a solution.
After reading posts here, I tried a power-off and reboot. This worked for me. My iPad 2 has not had the "No Service" problem for the past two days.
same issue here 😟. " No Service". afraid to restart my ipad coz last time i did so, it got caught in a loop and kept on restarting itslf every now and then..I had to drain the battery completely and plug the charger in again to exit from the loop.. apple, need a quick hotfix here to fix the bug.
Mine has gotten into the boot loop as well. i had tried to reset network settings since reboot got cellular working but then it kept asking for my wifi password, would not connect even though password was correct. I put it in airplane mode and NOW it has cellular stuck in airplane mode with the switch for cellular greyed out. IOS 8 was released to include support for ipad2. So far it's not working.......Apple needs to fix this ASAP. S much for quality control.
And of course it won't let me upload a screenshot of it From the iPad.
Sorry all,
reset netwok doesn't help. Got also no service.😟
Apple needs indeed to up iits QA department.
I Can help Apple with a testing methodology if needed...
Update...
So I go to do a restore and it prompts me to turn off "find my iPad" under iCloud. I have it connected to my Mac mini. So I got to settings and try and turn it off but it keeps failing saying no connection. I go to wifi and it's not connected. I toggle just the wifi button and it connects but at the same time, cellular comes out of airplane mode. Uh, WTH......
i think think ill try and go back to 7.1.2 at this point. 😟
And a little over 5 hours later.....wake up ipad and no cell service.
plug in cable to Mac mini....wait 6 seconds and ding, cell service back. Can you say BUG!?!?
Hi,
I have the same problems with my iPad2 and T-Mobile Germany after ios8 update. The cellular connection fails, only wifi works. After a reboot the cellular connection is working again, but only for a short time.
