No service on iPad 2 GSM after upgrade to iOS 8
Anybody have the same issue or a solution. I have done all the support tips restore etc.

I haven't used my magnetic cover and everything was good for about 24 hours, than this morning it went to no service why I was using it. That's the first time it did that.
This is what worked for me:
1. Go to Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls > Off
2. Power down iPad. (Press and hold on/off button).
3. Turn on iPad.
It maybe an issue related to users who have both an iPhone and an iPad; and are using the same WiFi connection. This however, is just my uneducated guess.
I hope this work around...works for you.
I Tried that two days ago and it did not work. So far not using the magnets to shut off the iPad is working all day. Will keep you posted.
Fyi the solution I thougjg AT&T had helped me with actually did not work. After awhile it went back to "No Service." And I'm betting no one from Apple has replied in this thread. Smh son of a *****
The same problem here. iPad 2 3G + WiFi. Carrier: PLUS GSM . Country: Poland. iOS 8.
I have tried to restore iPad, but after wake up still "no service". Restart of the device helps for a moment: up to three hours.
I'm very often during the trip so I need access to my data & cellular. Have no time for restarts !!
I'm testing solution with the "cover". I have turned off waking up/closing iPad by magnetic cover. It is 4 hours when iPad is in the range of 3G.
We will see in the morning.
I tried something earlier today that seems to have helped. When I went to settings, general, about and my network (ATT) and cellular data number was not recognized. I went to the iCloud Drive and turned off the "use cellular data." I think this drive is new to IOS8. Now my settings are correct. I even turned the "cellular data" back on without the No Service problem happening again but I think I'd rather the iCloud Drive not suck up my data.
I thought I'd share in case you are as desperate as I am to get my iPad/phone back!
Me too. Same issue here. "No service" . 😟 What can i do?
After a few frustrating days i decided to downgrade to 7.1.2... Apple servers are still authorizing this firmware.4
If you don't know how to do it follow this link:

Me too, since the upgrade, my iPad 2 is losing it service provider. The reboot is so painful I would prefer a root-canal!! Hope someone at Apple is working on this problem! The Surface 3 is looking better everyday!!!
You should not have to go through 9 steps to correct an Apple problem...
NOTHING WORKS TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM, INCLUDING APPLE. THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO DOWNGRADE TO IOS 7.1.2. Very dissaopointed with apple.
Extremely disappointed of Apple too! GSM (Swisscom in my case) stopped working after upgrade to iOS 8 on Ipad 2. You really would think Apple tests these basic things before recommending the upgrade to its customers !
Clearly these machines are too old to handle the upgrade and only because it is technically (just) feasible Apple should not push it down our throat...
I turned off 'Find My iPad', Restarted the iPad and service was back and has stayed back. Not sure why that makes a difference but seems to work. (My iCloud is off also)
so far this is the most hopeful posting. Hopefully APPLE can see it.
I have send it via feedback channel 1 week ago and no one has bother to contact me. That's how Apple provide support to their customer.
After tweaking the Cellular Data settings, I still see the "No Service" status. And I have a cover that doesn't have the magnets, so that doesn't help either. I did notice that my iPhone prompted me for an AT&T Carrier Update. And my iPhone 5 is behaving well since the iOS8 upgrade. Perhaps we need that on our iPads as well. Will look to see how to find that and apply it.
