iOS 8 alarm sounds not working

hi

before ios 8 I always left my phone on silent at night and my alarm would always wake me in the morning by playing a very slightly annoying ringtone. Since I've updated, it now doesn't make a noise at all on silent or if I turn my phone onto loud, it only vibrates. My ringer is at the maximum noise level but when I press the volume keys on the side of my phone, it shows the ringer with no volume at all.

Am I missing something? I don't want to have my phone on loud all night as this will drive me crazy

thanks

Same problem here. This morning I didn't wake up because my alarm didn't make any sound. I finally woke up (almost 2 hours late) when my SO called, and when I hung up I realized the alarm was going off, but not making any sound.

I did install an app called CARROT Alarm, which I turned on last night and set for 15 minutes before the regular alarm. However, I decided not to use it after all so I closed the app. I do not know if it could have interfered with my regular alarm. I do know the alarm symbol was still on in the top right corner on my phone, because I always check that before going to sleep (Also, it was the regular alarm that was going off silently this morning, not the CARROT Alarm app).

I also turned on "Hey Siri" last night, and played with the function before going to bed, by saying "Hey Siri, what time is it?" and "Hey Siri, what movies are playing?" and "Hey Siri, I'm going to sleep now." I don't know if turning on the "Hey Siri" function might have contributed to the alarm malfunction?

This is a major problem for me. I need to be able to trust my alarm to wake me up, and even if I test it out before bed, I don't know if I can trust my phone completely now.

Solved okay guys i had the same problem now I read the other solutions none of them worked for me either. Basically I had been having this issue since the latest update I guess but I had always been using my clock radio till it broke so I did not pay attention to it. Also I had been using the paid sleep cycle app. Anyway I decided to go back to my phone alarm and it didn't work the first day then the second then the third. The part that drove me crazy was like many of you I tested the alarm during the day and of course it worked. I asked a few "experts" who all said they never had that issue and thought I was either sleeping through it or grabbed it at night and turned it off. So I came to this forum and followed the instructions as stated by previous posters which is good advice and it worked for my brother at first anyway as was also having alarm issues and should be tried first basically 1. Turn of the side switch alarm silencer and put the volume all the way up.User uploaded file

This worked for my brother but not me so I decided just to be safe to set the phone alarm and 2 different iPads at different places in my room to all ring with the above settings and low and behold NONE of them worked the subsequent morning. 3 silent alarm screens I finally had enough and went to the store and bought a new clock radio with a battery backup for $15 and that solved my problem. So I advise everybody to go out and buy a clock radio for fifteen dollars........ ......No but seriously I tried a million combinations and what worked was deleting my sleep cycle app off of the phone and yes I tried all the setting combinations. It came down to one or the other. So I deleted the sleep cycle app and everything works again. Unfortunately if you don't have that app it could be a different one. Probably start by deleting any 3rd party alarm app. I don't know why this issue is happening now when in the past I could set both of them and they would both go off. Please keep updating this thread if you find other apps other than Sleep Cycle that cau this glitch. For my brother it was the espn app causing the problem. In the meantime do yourself a favor and buy a clock radio.

iPhone6, IOS8.4.1, Sprint; This problem started for me about a week ago with the last update. The sound "Classic-Alarm" plays for about 1 sec and then stops. The message on the screen indicates that the alarm is still sounding and to tap for snooze. It is still enough to wake up but if it wasn't for my wife's traditional alarm clock I would discontinue using the iPhone as I no longer trust it to do its job. I'm assuming this is something to do with the update process and will be deleting all of my previous alarms, establishing new ones to see if that works. I'll check back in a couple of days with status.
