Iphone 5 back camera problem after update to IOS 8. Focus doesn't work on back camera!

My camera is just black I cannot even press any of the in screen buttons to turn camera or any modes deffinately an update issue kind of wish I didn't update now as I used my phone for a camera 😟 please Apple fix this issue or do we replace our phones?

IIphone 5 64gb. Same problem, rear camera does not work after iOS 8 update. Forward facing camera will work but have to be paitent. RangnApple support and taking to Apple Store for diagnostic tomorrow. Apples first response was to provide a quote to fix. But iOS 8 broke it, so they should fix.. Hope so.

It worked all of a sudden yesterday for a few hours, so it isn't a hardware issue.

Same problem. Always the black screen. But if I'm trying to use camera in Instagram it works fine!

Installed Instragram, but still no success. Got it to work normal for about 1 hrs, then tried to take photo with imessage but broke again.Fustrating.

I'm having this same problem too. Worked fine prior to iOS update. I contacted Verizon this morning who advised that this is a known issue. They suggested I backup my device, and perform a factory data reset. When prompted to update to iOS 8 again, re-installation has been known to resolve the issue. With all the problems with iOS 8, camera, and overall device slowing, I might just wait for a follow on SW turn.

I'm having same problem screen goes black and buttons freeze. The front camera works if I tap the reverse camera icon repeatedly

I Also contacted Apple and they tell me to attach phone to my Mac and to reset and wipe phone and set up as new phone and then do a restore from a backup.

i'm not able to try this until tomorro.

They told me the same, have done this now twice to no avail. Same problem as you.

TTake it back Apple replaced my iPhone best part of Apple. Also the worst part esp when ur local Apple stores over an hour away it's just one problem to another as now my NEW iphone stuck restoring for 2 days iOS 8 seems to have done more harm then good.
