Iphone 5 back camera problem after update to IOS 8. Focus doesn't work on back camera!

I have the same problem on iPhone5 64g after updating to IOS 8.1. The rare camera goes black and buttons freeze. Please advise me how to fix it.

Same for me, Iphone 5 64g. back camera is not working since installation of 8.1. Try to clean restore (without using a backup at the end of the process) but problem is still there.

Need to wait for the 8.1.1 ?

I tried restoring the phone to its factory setting and installed the phone as a new iphone but without any luck... The back camera is still not working..

My issue is fixed now the same way as in luis.marcanth case. My camera just came back to life today after 4 weeks of non-functioning without any noticable reason. I hope that it'll stand that way. So I would recommend you to wait for some time before spending money on fixing your smartphone or buying the new one.

Try aiming the camera, then tap the screen on the area you wish to focus.

Same problem - on both my iPhone 5's after latest IOS upgrade. Found answer (FOR ME at least) - Press the icon in the bottom right corner with the 3 circles - suddenly I had my camera again (albeit with 9 tonal versions at once) - Selected "Instant" and everything back to normal.

Unfortunately proposed workaround/fix did not work for me even after a complete reset.

Hoping that Apple is already working on a fix on that being the issue clearly software and not hardware.

Next Saturday I have scheduled an appointment at Genius Bar but honestly I do not expect improvements in this sense neither quick solution to such problem.

I also have same issue with rear camera, which stopped working after iOS8 update.I tried couple of steps, which were mentioned here, but no use. I don't want to open camera n fix.

Is Apple working on this issue to fix ? So many people should not have this issue after iOS 8 update.

Hello guys, had same problem after i updated to 8.1.2, the back camera and the flash stopped working after 2 days. Just fixed it 2 mins ago.

1 step make sure it is not a hardware problem - use the camera with face time that is the only app that worked for me (try to call someone using face time and switch back and forth the cameras to hopefully see that it works.

2 step hold home and lock button till the phone goes off leave it for about a min off then turn it back on.

After this try out the camera app.

If it doesn`t work the first time just repeat the steps with face time etc. but before this do a backup restore that you think worked well with your phone.

This worked for me.

I kinda think it is maybe a software - hardware conflict between multiple app and the actual camera because after the update my camera worked fine but then i used an app called retrica that has lots of cool filters for photos, but i think it stresses the phone`s camera and maybe causes some conflicts.

same here! after installing ios8, my camera turned all pictures into blur pictures

The quality of any phone on my 5S is very blurry and unusable -- only since the 8.1 update. Nothing fixes it. It's just the quality. Used to be great. Makes my camera completely unusable. Thanks again Apple.

I have consistently had this problem with my 5s. The only solution that has worked EVERY time for me is to open the phone up, disconnect and reconnect the rear facing camera cable. At first I was intimidated, but now I can do it in about 5 minutes. I bought a kit to replace the battery from ifixit.com and the kit has the necessary tools (great videos on their site as well) do this job. Only advice: there is a little metal clip that rests over the Home Button cable, usually when you open the phone the cable pulls off and sends this little clip flying. Open the case slowly and look at the orientation of the clip. The rest is very straightforward.

my rear camera blank and not function,iphone no sound when play mp3,youtube and etc,but can hear sound

when use headphone,when i connect to charge direct to plug,its heat,but when i charge and connect to komputer..its not heat/normal

so.....if i upgrade to ios 9..apple can solve the problem..thanks apple
