I'm attempting to install the icloud windows PC 4.0.3.56. Everything runs great right up to the end, when I get this message. Any ideas?

This worked for me after months of intermittently trying all sorts of fixes. Only thing to add--even after restarting I couldn't remove one of the files in the Program Files (x86)/Common Files\Apple\Internet Services folder, but that didn't seem to matter. Another anomaly: even though I could run iCloud 3.0 from the Start Menu, it didn't show up in the Programs and Features listing in Control Panel. Again, this didn't seem to affect the final outcome.

First time in a long while I have found a solution in any support forum that applied to a problem I had. Thanks for passing this along.

So I have a brand new Lenova Yoga 3 running 8/.1. Icloud for windows gives the now infamous error on install. But icloud was never installed on this machine before, so there is no "Internet Services" directory. The failure mode is a flaw in the YS Loader from Apple. Inn fact the process create a log and this is the error message.

Come on Apple your installer doesn't work, investigate a little and address this issue.

I am also having this problem and did some extra searching around on other sites as well. One site (http://superuser.com/questions/821182/cant-install-icloud-4-on-dell-inspiron-win -7) suggested the following:

I got a bit rough with it, on a spare computer rather than my main machine, in case I really broke something...
After having unsuccessfully tried to compress the contents of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services folder & failing, I trashed the whole folder, had IOBit Uninstaller v4 remove as much as it could, then ran the iCloud64.msi from the download location.

This, of course, errored with "Account already exists" & backed out the install.
Why would it be so simple?

Having no option any more to logout, as I'd completely broken iCloud 3 by my fumblings, I tried the iCloud64.msi again... this time I ended the process from Task Manager at the error, instead of letting it roll back - joy & tribulation - it worked.

I did not try this myself as I'm tech friendly but not techy enough to fix what I may mess up with this. Has anyone else tried this? Does it make sense?

Had same issue where version 4 would try to install and then would roll back at the end due to problems with installer. Managed to fix this problem on my Win 8 x64 PC by going backwards. By chance I found the installer for 3.1 C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\iCloud Control Panel 3.1.0.40\. I installed 3.1 then before rebooting installed version 4. Not sure if the not rebooting between installs made any difference but version 4 installed without any issues and it seems to be up and running now. Hope this helps.

Cheers

when installing itunes and/or icloud, right click on the .exe file, click on run as administrator. This should fix the problem and you should be able to install.

If not, then uninstall all itunes components...

go to control panel, programs and features (windows 7+)

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:

I am not sure, but I think the reason apple has not responded to all these difficulties is because they were rolling out iCloud Drive. From what I am reading on the installation instructions that have frustrated us all, there is that confounded mention of upgrading to iCloud Drive after installing iCloud 4. The Drive was not working so well before but it seems to be getting more filled out in its functions, including photos. I am officially giving up on the installation of iCloud 4, my head can't take the frustration anymore-- (especially the silence from Apple and I am paying for upgraded cloud storage too) Good Luck to you all!

I spend a lot of time on that issue. I had to use Norton GHOST to save my computer three times but I discovered lots of facts doing that.

First thing to do it SIGNOUT from ICloud. Otherwise, there is a service running and that can create a problem. You cannot install 4 over 3.1. You have to totally remove 3.1 with some of the methods described before.

Last week, I did a lot of trials and errors with commercial and free Windows program removers. I tried IOBIT uninstaller which is free. I finally bought REVO Uninstaller Pro which did a good job; but left an item in the Registry that I deleted manually. Otherwise, the ICloud control panel was still there. This is a registry issue from my experience when you see that icon still there after doing an uninstall.

A good thing would be to remove any Apple programs at the same time to be able to do a search for anything named Apple either on the computer or in the registry.

Some files and folders however are difficult or even impossible to get rid of. I went very deep with Revo and manually and finally I messed my computer. I am now using Norton Ghost to get back to a previous image.

If you do not have a program able to create an image of your machine to bring it back, I suggest to be very cautious about uninstalling too much stuff and not being able to run the machine except reformatting and reinstalling from scratch. With GHOST or similar programs, you can go back to a previous state and save many hours of installing and customizing.

To say that Apple is lacking help on that issue if an understatement. They should be ashamed to create such problems for users.

Try this

To update icloud with windows 7

-download iCloud installer 3.1.0.40

-go to install, it will ask if you want to remove residual iCloud

-uninstall it

-restart

-then remove folder "internet services" and its contents

\hard drive\program files\common files\apple\internet services

-then install version 3.1.0.40

-restart, logoff the iCloud in control panels

-install version 4.02

Finally, something that worked.

I'd tried it all and this did it.

This, of course, errored with "Account already exists" & backed out the install.

Having no option any more to logout, as I'd completely broken iCloud 3 by my fumblings, I tried the iCloud64.msi again... this time I ended the process from Task Manager at the error, instead of letting it roll back.

A thousand thanks.

hi all,

I solved my trouble with iCloud installation on my win7 32bit PC. Initially I couldn't install or uninstall iCloud (it was demanded to find a proper iCloud.msi file). So I downloaded Revo Uninstaller Pro (it has 30-day trial version) and deleted the old iCloud: firstly I saw the same error message, skipped it and erased all registry entries and corresponding folders. And voila - after all previous torments I was able to install a new version of iCloud!

Found another easier solution . I have win 10 64, outlook 365. I simply unpacked the installer with an archive program ( right click/open with ...zip) then opened the folder created and run only the icloud64.msi installer and it worked. Seams that some other programs in the package are the ones that gave that error. Try that and please give some feedback here to help others with the same problem.
