You haven't provided any answers. You just keep posting your opinion "There is no doubt that the problem is in the IOS-8" and calling it fact. Stop.

If you want to justify it, I'm sure everyone wants to hear your logic. I know I do. If not, please stop trolling.

Like I said previously, I have neither the time nor the inclination. Now, stop your whining.

Well so far since upgrading my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite & latest version of iTunes, wifi sync is working for my iPhone 6 (so far) but not my iPad Air (both on iOS 8.0.2).

The stupid thing is I've not done anything with my phone to make it work! (sorry know this doesn't help anyone, but thought I would post any way).

I will keep an eye on it, and see how long it lasts (not holding my breath), if I can get it working on my iPad I'll note down what I did and post

The problem appeared for me with the latest version of iTunes. After some experimentation I fixed it as follows:

  • With the phone connected, click on its icon
  • Uncheck WiFi syncing
  • Click Apply
  • Quit iTunes
  • Launch iTunes
  • Check WiFi syncing
  • Click Apply

Since doing this my WiFi sync has been restored (but that was only an hour ago - I'll try again tomorrow)

This sounds logical. But here's my experience:

I followed your steps with my iPhone 6. For the first time in some time, it did not disappear from iTunes' device list as soon as I unplugged the USB cord. So far so good.

I followed your steps with my iPad. As soon as I unplugged it, it disappeared from the iTunes list.

Well, iOS 8.1 is only 24-36 hours away. (insert fingers crossed emoticon)

My only fear regarding 8.1 is that it's primarily intended to implement Apple Pay. Hopefully it will also include the WiFi Sync bug fix.

iOS 8.1 has been in the hands of developers since before iOS 8 was released and Apple got feedback about the WiFi sync issue. At least there's been plenty of time for engineers to address WiFi sync alongside whatever other issues iOS 8.1 addresses in addition to ApplePay.

Of course, if the issue is the security changes to MAC addressing, that could, theoretically, be a more difficult thing to fix.

I have this problem with my iPad and iPhone not syncing with my Mac since I updated to 8.0.2. I discovered that by completely shutting down the phone or iPad and restarting it works but only for that one sync. This solution works but is annoying. Also with the same update my bluetooth in the car stopped working. I've tried all the suggestions offered from this site and nothing works. This is extremely annoying and I'm really hoping with the next software update these issues are fixed. I miss my bluetooth in the car and my podcasts over bluetooth. Apple please work to give us back these great features that IOS 8 botched and ruined. I'm Apple all the way, but these latest problems have me with PC like problems.

Just to add something to the discussion. Although mostly convinced that iOS 8 caused the problem, I have noticed something else kind of odd. Part of the discussion has referred to MAC addresses and Networking and noticed today when opening Airport Utility that the Wireless Client names are much different than the names on my devices. Never paid much attention to this in the past but, I think I would have noticed it before. If, with iOS 8, wifi syncing is somehow tied to the device name and wireless client name - they don't match at all. Not even close. I have no idea how to change the Wireless client name to check this out. Any suggestions? Or am I way off base?

To be honest I don't think that haas anything to do with it.

The Wireless Client name of my network is the same as what is listed on my devices. Even if they were different, it would not explain why a re-boot of your iDevice restores WiFi syncing (albeit temporarily) as the reboot does not change the Wireless Client network name.

I think the WiFi sync issue is due to a combination of different factors which does not impact everyone (if it was a more widespread issue their would be a larger forum discussion and other Mac related websites would have picked it up). As the issue seems to be only impacting a few of us, I don't know how high a priority it would be for Apple to fix. The release notes for iOS8.1 don't mention a fix for WiFi sync so not holding out a lot of hope that 8.1 will fix the problem.

I know a lot of people with iOS devices all on 8.0.2 (asked about 20 of them) and I am the only one one with WiFi sync issues. What is odd is all of my devices were impacted, so it seems something unique to my setup which is causing the bug to appear.
