iOS 8 WiFi sync is broken

I upgraded to 8.1 and then looked at the settings. Under General, iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, I selected sync now and all is fine. It worked on all my devices and, as a test, I rebooted my computer and all the devices still show up.

Seems to be working now for me also. Updated both iPhone and iPad early this morning. Both stayed connected all day when opening iTunes. Even went out for awhile and when I came back iTunes discovered my iPhone just fine. Hoping it remains this way.

For those asking about if it was listed in the fix, yes it was. Before downloading I noticed one of the fixes was for wifi connectivity issues for some users. Assume that was it.

But now a new problem and off to another discussion I guess. My App Store icon on both iPhone and iPad still show badges even though all Apps are updated and synced. Weird, may 8.1.1 will fix...

My iPhone 6 and wife's iPhone 5s are now visible in iTunes (just the iPad Air with problems). My iPad Air 2 is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, so will end up doing a restore from backup. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

I am also experienceing the App Store badge issue. All my apps are up to date, but the badge icon remains.

Well, iOS8.1 definitely did not fix the problem for me.

Both my iPhone 6 and my wife's iPhone 5s are no longer visible in iTunes for WiFi sync. It lasted about 6 hours for me before they disappeared.

Have you contact Apple Tech Support to report the problems you have ? Mine wifi sync seem to be working ok right now. Still have to check again tomorrow morning when I wake up.

I have not contacted Apple as yet, but I did reboot all of my devices again as well as rebooted my iMac. All my iDevices have reappeared in iTunes. I'll wait and see if they disappear again.

Magic! Wireless synch on my iphone 6 and iPad is working perfectly after iOS 8.1 update. iTunes sees both devices every time and maintains the connection.

Windows XP, Itunes 12.01.26, IOS8.1, IPAD 2

At least I see the IPAD via the wireless now, but it does not stay for long. Although visible, when I try to sync, the IPAD is not found and the icon disappears. Restart Itunes and the Ipad is visible again but disappears again on an immediate sync attempt.

Sad face.

Sorry to hear that. So far, my problem seems to be gone. Since yesterday afternoon and the update all is smooth for me.

Ever since I installed the iOS8 patch yesterday, I have checked intermittently and as soon as my iPhone 4S gains wifi signal iTunes finds it! Hope it stays that way.

Some progress here.

When I first updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, it did not appear in iTunes. Another restart caused it to appear.

My iPad appeared in iTunes as soon as it acquired the WiFi signal after the update.

Both stayed in the iTunes list and could be synced for about 24 hours.

But I just clicked Apps on my iPhone 6 in iTunes, and after a few moments of "Looking for iPhone..." iTunes just dropped it from the list. Plugging it in via USB brought it back, and unplugging the USB after the sync did not make the iPhone disappear.

OK, BEING skeptical I have resisted posting but here goes. I upgraded all my units (Iphone 4s, 32 GB; ipad 4, 64gb and ipod touch latest model 64 GB with ios 8.1. I also installed iTunes 12.0.1.26 on my win 7 computer. I then followed the above recommended procedure of connecting each device via usb and going into general, then reset and resetting all network settings. I then synced each device. I then disconnected each device and electrically plugged them in elsewhere in my house. For the past almost 36-48 hours, all have remained active and connecting via wifi to my win 7 computer's itunes 12.0.1.26!! Re-establishing the network settings seems to be key in aligning all the new software, at least in my case it seems so!! Good luck to all. If it fails, I will post occurrence,but so far this is the best it has looked!! FYI..iphone has been out of the house and around town, so it has left my home network, but reconnected when I returned and sync'd after being plugged into ac!!! THAT is an improvement because my 4s which I cannot turn handshake off within because the feature doesn't show, has never worked under 8 or better!!

Just a reminder that to test WiFi sync, it's not enough to see the device listed in iTunes. You have to do something to make iTunes find the iPhone. You can click the apps section in the phone's listing or actually sync.

Many times I've seen my iPhone 6 in the list, but selecting Apps or Sync causes it to disappear.

Yep, I just clicked on my iPhone 4s sync button within itunes at the win7 after downloading the trailers app and a couple app updates. It found it and immediately sync'd.!!!!! You are right, it used to disappear and not find it. So far so good!!
