iOS 8 wifi sync not working

Just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and my iTunes to 11.4. I'm unable to get my phone to connect in iTunes using the WIFI sync now. I've tried unchecking then checking it to see if would get it working again but nothing is getting it to work. Anybody else have this issue?

Same issue here with iPaid Air and iPhone 5S.
While I was checking several answers on the net, I discovered in the iPad settings (General - Wifi sync) that it was disabled and I had to plug the iPad using USB to activate Wifi sync.

Here are the steps I follow :
- Power off everything (Mac, iPad, iPhone)
- Start iTunes, connect iPad on USB

- Wifi Sync was checked on iTunes so I uncheck, apply, sync

- Check the box "Wifi Sync" back, apply, sync

- Restart iTunes and... iPad and iPhone showed up !

I went away (to buy some food for my Newfy and my cat) and when I came back, both iDevices were showing in iTunes when I launch it.
Maybe having a Newfy and a cat helps ? 🙂

Nothing works for me. I connect with a cable and I still cannot sync or backup. Made the mistake of resetting my device and ... it reset but still won't sync, which means I now have NO music and none of my apps except for the ones that come with the iOS. So no Evernote, Waze, Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Google Mail , Pandora. So my smartphone is pretty much just a phone now. I guess I could download all the apps individually -- my iTunes account still works -- but I hate to have to do that. And that still doesn't solve my issue of syncing my music library. All in all, very frustrating. And there aren't many nearby Genius Bars with any openings in the next few days.

I was having this issue (along with many, many others) and found something that seems to work. Plug in your iPhone and allow iTunes to do its thing. Then, uncheck the "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" box. Sync your iPhone. After the sync is complete, recheck the "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" box and Sync again. It should work now. I have tried this method on three different iPhones and it has worked without issue and after many days. I have noticed that it seems like iOS 8 is 'stupid' when it comes to the settings under 7.1.x. I've had to manually reset all my app notifications in order to begin receiving them again. It was nice and quiet for a few days, but then I started to notice something was amiss. My suggestion, aside from APPLE FIX THIS CRAP, is if you have a problem with something not doing what it was supposed to do, try to manually reactivate it. So far, it's resolved every issue I've had. Hope this works for you!

I've tried your technique and others similar, and sorry to say, they won't work. At least not consistently. This is why Apple pulled the iOS updates last night. 8.0.1 is already out for the 6 and we should be seeing 8.0.2 soon. Let's face it, we are all the early adopters, or, as I read earlier, the "shock troops" for Apple when it comes to getting the bugs out of the new iOS. I'm hoping the fix comes out soon. But at least my iPhone is mostly functional with only these few pesky quirks.
