ive also had this problem since Memorial Day weekend after updating with the 9.3.2. Now on beta 9.3.3 and I've gotten it to work only a couple times. It's only apple software it won't work with; FaceTime, front facing video, speaker on phone calls, Siri, text dictation. But everything that isn't apple (snapchat, google translate, etc) works just fine.

ive done a complete restore, tried it as a brand new phone, downgrated, upgraded, cleaned the speakers, hard resets, soft resets, turned off noise cancelling and call routing and Siri and dictation and very thing else and got it to work three times but when I test again, nothing. I have an appt with the genius barnsaturday. As of today, this one is exactly 6 months old and my first replacement. I got my original phone February 2015 and the screen became unresponsive and I had to have the whole thing replaced with a new phone. I have an iPhone 6 Plus, and I'm highly ****** about this.

MY microphone works for all applications EXCEPT ordinary phone calls..SIRI works, speakerphone and FaceTime work, and video recording works. All this problem started after Memorial Day update. I wiped my phone clean and did factory reset and restore. Problem still continues. I am using a Bluetooth headset for all my phone calls for now. I hope Apple comes out with another update soon that will fix this problem.

hey guys! I have similar problem with my iPhone 6S+, when on call, the other party can't hear me using the device default (ear) speaker and mic, but when I change to speaker mode, the mic works and the other party can hear me normally.

Then I went to apple store and they did a quick diagnostics, after a while, they replaced my device immediately with brand new one, as it covers with 1 year warranty.

Now, i tested at home, and everything works fine. but after upgrading to the latest iOS version, and recover my back-up files from itunes, the problem came back and this time, the mic stopped working when on call using speaker phone, but working normally with default ear (speaker).

It swaps the issue.

note that it happened within few hours after getting the new replacement device.

I am getting dis-appointed now with this model (iphone 6s+).

Any fix on this?

thanks and regards,

giovanni

After read a lot of this... and also check in different local IT/HW stores... this seems a common Iphone 6 HARDWARE issue,,,

the front mic (actually the bottom panel) could be replace for about 40 USD.. in 20 min,

,...that could be a quick/unofficial solution if you do not want to wait, or if you are out of garanty... :-S

my problem has been resolved by removing the film on the device.

This film is attached on a brand new devices which I didn't remove in the first place, thinking that it will help as a protector.

;-)

the film is covering the speaker (earpiece) where the second mic of the iphone is located.

my bad..

Contacted the apple support on-line, did a diagnostic tests and didn't find any hardware issues, until the support reminds me of the above mentioned solution.

;-)

fyi and reference.

I recently started having this problem too. I thought it was my phone's hardware.

After reading through this entire board, I realized that some apps that use the microphone seem to be forcing the microphone to the video mike. Apple needs to fix that. After turning off the microphone for snapchat, my microphone began working correctly again. If I want to use the microphone on snapchat, I have to go into settings, allow it, then when through, disallow its use of the microphone. I went through each program that accesses the mike and tried turning it off and calling my partner to see if the sound was working right. Snapchat was the one that re-routed the mike to the one by the camera. I would suggest anyone frustrated with this issue try this first. Go through each app that accesses the microphone, turn them off one by one and test with a patient and willing partner to find out which one is causing the problem. I see a lot of people saying this is a hardware issue and it's possible there are two issues. If people can't hear you at all, no matter what, then maybe that's a hardware issue. If you're like me, and suddenly, shouting as loud as you can into your phone to talk to someone becomes a problem, try my remedy. It might work. I suspect there is more than one app that re-routes the microphone but I've seen Snapchat mentioned several times in this forum.
