F'ing Apple!!!!! I work in the field and I run my company on an iPad 2. Ever since ios 8, the cell data service still drops (even after updating to latest updates). To get it back, I must hard restart. The restart is also f'd up, requiring about 8 minutes to bring the iPad back up (the apple symbol comes up and then the unit goes black. Hold the power button for several seconds 2 times, and then do it again a third time and the unit comes back on. This never happened and Apple does not seem to give a rats a**. The Microsoft Surface is starting to look good.

Hey trsgmb, how did you manage to revert back to iOS 7.1.2? The link you provided says nothing about this! Apple stopped signing the 7.1.2 version a few days ago and there is now no official way to install it. Please help us. We're in the dark here!

On another note, after a call to Apple's customer center, I might have fixed my iPad. The advisor told me that I was experiencing a faulty update to iOS 8 and that I needed to restore my iPad. I did exactly what he recommended: I connected the iPad to my Mac, went into iTunes, pressed the restore button, the Mac downloaded the iOS 8 from the Internet and installed it fresh on my iPad. Then I set up my iPad as a new device (attention: I did not restore any previous backup!). 1 day and 1 night later, I am no longer experiencing 3G freezes. I now have to reinstall all my apps, but at least 3G seems to be working.

According to the Apple advisor, if you restore your iPad (i.e. perform a factory reset from within the iPad's settings), it apparently does not reinstall the iOS, but rather just wipes all the data and settings. This is why you need to do it through iTunes.

I will keep you posted with my progress.

I went into Apple store, 100 mile drive and a good portion of my day.

I did not try erase all contents and set up as new, seems after further reading that you will still be stuck with ios8 after doing that though. Another thought I had but may or may not work, can a device be restored from back up of someone else running ios7 and manually change settings to your settings after restoring back up? My daughter and mother in law both did not update on advice from me, to wait because I was having so much trouble. So that maybe an optio for someone who has access to a person with ios7, I'm not sure.

I was lucky, like I said right place, right time, but it took up most of my day.

Hello

I've come across something which isn't a fix, but speeds up the process of restoring 3G (given that an IOS8 reboot takes and age and driving back home to plug the F*****g tinto a computer might be inconvenient!)

1) Go to settings

2) Select "icloud:

3) As it connects to your icloud account, 3g seems to re-appear.

This is not a permanent fix, but I've tried it 3 times now and its restored 3g every time. Also hints at the source of the bug maybe? I haven't got iCloud drive activated as I'm waiting for Yosemite, but I wonder .......

Anyway, would love to hear if this works for others!
