I have tried all items listed throughout this session, many worked by not for very long. In addition to the items listed I also went to ATT and got a new SIM card, I thought that may be where the problem originated. The new sim card worked briefly but then I lost 3g service again. I called Apple support yesterday and was instructed the last possible thing to try is a factory restore on the iPad2. So I backed up my iPad via iTunes, you will need a computer to complete a factory restore, or go to an Apple store. The back up and download took approx. 3 hours, a call back was scheduled when I started this process, the call back came and the software was still downloading, 3 hours later! The tech told me I should not expect perfection, I told her when I buy any other product, car, appliance, clothing, I expect them to function. I do not expect to bring them back or spend hours getting the item to work. Frustrating to have a tech with such low expectations of their product. The software download finally finished and I did a restore iPad, which failed! I had to start the whole download process all over. When it finally did download and install all of my apps failed. I had to go back in and sync the apps. So all in all I spent roughly 9 hours to get this update to work and I'm not sure I have solved it yet.

As of this time the iPad 2 seems to be functioning as intended, we will see if this holds true throughout the day. I have another call back coming in at 9am, because yesterday they booked up and I was bottom of the list. It's a good thing I know a little bit about computers, not a lot, but enough to navigate without a lot of tech support. (I can thank windows operating system for the computer knowledge....I) was having flashbacks yesterday to years of windows glitches, very disappointed in Apple and the direction this company seems to be heading. Precision and perfection should be the standard, I remember a time when it was.....

Yeah, WOW is right! I was very annoyed, especially with the tech telling me nothing is perfect. Is that what we have come to expect, computers may or may not function? I told the tech my area of expertise is not in computers, if I wanted to troubleshoot and fix computers I would have gone to school for that, I didn't and I don't want to fix computers. I asked the tech what they would think if they went to a mechanic for problems with their car and the mechanic told them to buy a set of tools, go out to the car and then call tech support so they could walk them through fixing their car on the phone. My time is valuable, I do not have time or inclination to fix computers, although much to my dismay, I have become better at it than I ever wanted to. When I initially switched over to Apple I did not want to learn an new operating system, but after years of working with them I learned to love the ease of the system 'just working'" I was not used to this coming from windows operating systems and the constant glitches. I want the system to "just work" I don't care how, or what goes on in the background of the system, like I said if that was my area I would have gone to school for it.

I hope this is the fix, and I hope that Apple will raise the bar. If the software is not ready to be release- DO NOT RELEASE- I can wait rather than go through this.

OK, I may have fixed mine, but it was painful.

Apple was/is going to replace mine with a refub iPad2 but had to order one, none in stock at the local store, (they could have told me that BEFORE I drove the 40 miles, sigh).

So, since I was going to have to do this anyway when I get the new one, I did a erase and reset everything from the iPad and did a restore.

It did make the 3G come back and it's been on steady for 2 days now, (so far so good), BUT I had major issues with getting a good full backup in iTunes and a restore. But that is another issue all together.

Been messing with the restore with apps since yesterday around 4PM EST, just now got all the apps, music and videos restored.

3G still up and running.

Maybe this will help others.

Do a complete full backup, check it to make sure it really is, then from the iPad erase and reset everything and then restore your latest backup. That has worked for me so far.

iPad 2 64 gig on Verizon 3G.

After a reset of my iPad 2 the 3G service was gone again. On top of that the option "Provider" disappeared from the settings menu.

After removing and reinserting the simcard after a while the 3G service as well as the menu option came back.

I wonder how it was possible that this update passed their quality control. Lousy job, Apple!!!

Latest:

The 3G works intermittently throughout the day. In the morning it was on full dots. Then 3 hours later at 11 am it stated NO SERVICE. We need and paid for a dependable service. I hope AAPL is working on this. Their stock lost BIG TIME today due to a bunch of issues so maybe that will be a heads up to start making customer service a number one priority as opposed to selling new products. I won't stop until my problem is resolved.
