Data Execution Prevention?

I just recently downloaded and installed the latest version of iTunes. When I close the program I get a warning "Data Execution Prevention has closed iTunes". What is this and how do you fix it. I have already reinstalled iTunes and that didn't work. I am running Windows Vista and have had no trouble with previous versions of iTunes.

oldapps.com has 32 bit iTunes 11.1.5, but when I tried to install it, I found that I had to uninstall the later version I had first. Then, the old version failed to start, throwing a missing DLL message. Trying to register the file that was clearly there threw yet another error about no valid entry point.

Anyone looking for advice on this issue should be aware of my experience.

In a nutshell, the last version of iTunes that was fully compatible with 32-bit Vista was 11.1.5, which can be downloaded from oldapps.com. (If you are running 64-bit Vista, then you might have to roll back even further). Or you can ignore the DEP notifications and hope that Apple will eventually issue an update that was actually tested on Vista. (Do not disable DEP!) If you would like to read a long thread about this issue, see Windows Vista problem reports after latest Itunes 11.2 update .
