iphone 6 camera not working

I just got the iphone 6 today and my camera's are not working. All I see is a black screen and I can not take a picture. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

This is a replacement iPhone 6 plus 64gb I got it like 2-3 months ago after my original one from November 2014 was bent. They didn't reimburse me for my screen protector since I did not buy it from Apple as well. After power cycling the phone and then resetting the phone (holding the power and home button at the same time) and updating to latest iOS from 8.1. It's still not working. Both camera are blacked out. And instagram is giving an error. I'm heading to the Apple Store now.

Same thing here, not working, all of a sudden stopped working and from time to time it starts or even gives me purple or pink lines.

I am SURE this is software, the cameras don't have flexes or stuff in the inside, it either works or don't. It's not analog!

Boot the phone 2 or 3 times and it starts working, boot the phone after that and it does not... how can that be hardware?

Contacted apple care, they KNOW it's their faulty phones, otherwise they would never replace it that fast with no questions.

What happened Apple? you used to be cool.

I have this issue sometimes too. With the exception of wiping my phone I've tried all the simple solutions, that is reset settings, reboot, power off for a while, open from lock screen, leave camera app running in the background etc...

It seems like none of these worked consistently. On occasion I'd be able to take a few photos, but as soon as I clicked on the thumbnail to view the image and returning to the camera, the rear camera didn't work again. The video works consistently, and the front camera works consistently too. This issue tends to coincide with my flashlight not working, when I hit the flashlight button it doesn't even change state.

This is what worked for me (but i'd only do it as a last ditch effort):

My phone is slightly bent (just barely), enough that the screen sort of clicks if I push on the corner. At some point I tried to bend it back by pressing on the edges of the screen a little above half way up the phone while pulling the top towards me with my index fingers and pressing the bottom of the phone against my stomach. I do this with a _reasonable_ amount of pressure, it's forceful but not enough to do any damage. It turns out I hear a little click at which point I stop. Afterwards my flashlight and camera work consistently for a while, at least several weeks.

I must jar my phone occasionally, or put pressure on it in my front pocket which makes things go bad again. But I've done this maybe a dozen times and never made things any worse.

Good luck!

My iPhone 7 is only a month old, al of a sudden when l opened my camera app (the front camera works but the main back camera does not) screen looks all black or sometimes shows a blurry copy of last pic I took with the front camera. I have restarted the phone but "so far no joy"

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

What can I do?

Not sure this applies to all queries here about black screen on camera, but it just happened to me. I reset the phone holding home and power (screen went a weird greenish/black). Then figured that maybe it had been affected by my being out in the cold. I put phone near a radiator. When I powered it again, camera came back. Extreme heat and cold I think affect capabilities.

I have the same problem. No camera or torch! It is a fault on the main board and unfortunately for me my phone is just out of warranty and apple will do nothing to help except sell me a new phone.

My phone is in pristine condition as I am not a heavy user. Maybe if I used it more this would have happened within the warranty period!

Now I have an option. Upgrade to an iPhone 7 at a cost or move away from apple products altogether!! My last 5 handsets have been apple and I am disappointed in their customer service especially as this fault is not one caused by the user!!

I hope you manage to resolve yours more easily than the nightmare I have had with apple!!

I have the same problem. It is really frustrating because this is not the only problem I have with this phone. It dies at 60 percent sometimes and when I try to take selfies the screen just goes black. On Snapchat the camera doesn't turn at all. If you try to turn the camera around for a while it just takes me to the home screen. How can I fix this???

I have the same problem.. rear and front camera stopped working for no reason .. I called apple support and went to apple service but they couldn't say anything so I went to a local shop that does service and ended up that is hardware and it must be something with the Voltage of the motherboard that is stopping the flash and then flash stop the cameras .. if u don't have warranty to replace the phone with a new one ,the phone is useless and I can't do nothing..thank u apple I had more expectations from you .. I was 4 years apple user but I'm gonna change apparently.. no reason to buy again phone that has unexplained issues.
