wifi issues with iphone 6

Hi All,

Is anyone facing the issues with the wifi on iphone 6? I was connected to wi-fi but after I restarted the router by powering off/on, I wasn't able to connect to the wifi until I restarted my phone. Also even after toggling the wifi on/off on my phone I couldn't see any wifi signals where as I am supposed to see atleast 10 signals. Can someone please tell the steps to resolve this issue? Is this an hardware or an software issue on the phone?

I'm using the 6+ and this issue of WiFi dropping only started yesterday. A reboot of the phone was the only fix. Today, same issue had to restart 6+.

After reading 7 pages of comments, has anyone confirmed if Apple is acknowledging the issue?

Have had the 6+ for only 3 weeks. Quite disappointed that a brand new phone has simple issues as connecting to WiFi.

Apple, you're making a lot of money from us consumers and with a premium price for your hardware, i expected less hardware issues (than from your competitors). Something like this should not happen. My 5 yr old Samsung tablet still working fine and has no issues.

Please issue a fix asap.

I am having the same issue as most of you. I have posted this in another thread but there doesnt seem to be many responses there.

I have a iPhone 6 plus with the iOS 8.1 update. I also have a new Netgear router/modem D6300. I have a iPhone 4s, 5s, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, HTC One (M7), Asus G75SX Laptop, PS3 and Sony Home Theatre System on the network. All these devices connect with no problems on the 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ (The ones that can see both frequencies connect to both).

The iPhone 6 plus will not connect at all. Keeps on saying "incorrect password". I have done the following troubleshooting:

1. Updated from 8.0.2 to 8.1.

2. Rest Network Settings 3 times

3. Restored the phone as New not from backup.

4. Erased all content and settings.

5. Reset the router.

6. Changed the password to 6 digit password.

7. Removed the security on the router.

8. Opened more IP's on the network.

9. Enabled Guest Account.

10. Disabled Access Control.

11. Changed Security from WPA to WPA2 and vice versa.

12. Tried on both bands.

It will connect to my work WIFI, which is probably WPA/WPA2 Enterprise. It will also connect to my HTC One (M7) when doing internet sharing (Tethering). It will also connect to my next door neighbours WIFI, which also has an early model Netgear Modem/Router. I have contacted Apple Tech Support, but the best they could do is ask me to do the above troubleshooting steps which I already did. This is very disappointing, as I just came back from Android to iOS. 😟

All,

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!

I got rid of my Linksys EA4500 and got the ASUS RT-AC68U - AC1900. I was due an upgrade to get on the AC standard anyway so wasn't overly annoyed!

Since testing it over the weekend it seems that my Wi-Fi issues have been resolved. I haven’t had a single drop or had to toggle the Wi-Fi switch on/off to get it the connection live again. Speeds have been consistent and this is across all my devices including :

iPhone 6 Plus

iPad Air 2

iPhone 5S

Macbook Pro Retina – 2012 non AC version

I hope this lasts but so far so good although I appreciate this is a deep routed iOS 8 problem that only occurs with certain router brands / chipsets.

Either way apple need to resolve this in the next update for the vast majority of us and this certainly shouldn’t force us to upgrade our existing equipment!

Good luck to all and I’ll post back if things start to get sour again!!

Adding my voice as well. Seems to drop wifi during anything that requires continuous usage. For example, YouTube videos will play a few minutes and then I must turn wifi off and then back on. Same thing when scrolling through the tumblr app. Note that whenever I turn wifi off and LTE turns on that the video instantly begins playing or photos instantly download. Something is up and Apple needs to address it.

I am now on my second iPhone 6 dealing with the same wifi issue. My iPhone will connect to my wifi, will surf the Internet for a few hours without any issues, but then it will randomly stop accessibg the Internet, even though it still has a solid wifi connection. I also have an iPad Air, iPhone 4s, and two pc laptops, and none of them have ever experienced the wifi issue that the iPhone 6 is having. They are all connected to a Cisco Linksys EA3500 dual band wireless router Using WPA2 personal. I have tried using b/g only and n only, but still I have the same issue with the iPhone 6, multiple times a day. I have to turn the iPhone 6's wifi on and off, which works for a few hours, but it just goes offline by itself again hours later, even though it still has a string wifi signal. iOS 8.1.1 has made this even worse, with even more frequent drop outs.

Logging in to my router, I can see the iPhone 6 clearly going offline by itself. Intrestingly, I can see on the router's web interface that the iPad Air on my network shows a lot of detail beyond simply the MAC address, including the manufacturer (Apple, obviously), model, and OS. However, the iPhone 6 (when it's not randomly dropping offline by itself) will only show the MAC address, and does not include the basic information that shows up for the iPad Air, such as manufacturer, model, or OS. Clearly the iPhone 6 looks weird to the router compared to the iPad Air. Anybody else seeing something like this?

So I got a 6 plus last week, and all was fine until I upgraded my 5s to 8.1.2. These are on the same apple id account for reference.

After days of troubleshooting we finally found that the 5s takes or causes the 6 plus to drop its wireless connection.

With the 5s off, the 6 plus is stable and keeps wireless. Turn on the 5s, and the 6 plus instantly drops its connection. Tested multiple times, 100% percent result each time; the 5s rules and gets to keep it's wireless while the 6 plus is left with none, not allowed to connect.

Apple is now following my case, and hopefully they can fix this. Anyone else have this issue?
