wifi issues with iphone 6

Hi All,

Is anyone facing the issues with the wifi on iphone 6? I was connected to wi-fi but after I restarted the router by powering off/on, I wasn't able to connect to the wifi until I restarted my phone. Also even after toggling the wifi on/off on my phone I couldn't see any wifi signals where as I am supposed to see atleast 10 signals. Can someone please tell the steps to resolve this issue? Is this an hardware or an software issue on the phone?

Just a quick snapshot of my chain of events. I’m currently on my fourth iPhone 6 Plus 64GB here in London, UK. Every time I have spoken to AppleCare and told them that I have gone through all the Wi-Fi troubleshooting methods possible they have asked me to get a brand new retail replacement as I’m within my 14 day return period. I’ve been experiencing the following issues:

  1. Wi-Fi disconnects and switches to 4G (Restart required for temp fix)
  2. Wi-Fi is still active but there is no traffic or activity– often when in sleep mode for long periods of time. (Toggle Wi-Fi on/off for temp fix)
  3. Wi-Fi disconnects and cannot find any networks (restart required for temp fix)
  4. This has been occurring on both iOS 8 and 8.0.2
  5. The issues are the same on both my 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks
  6. This is affecting my ip6+ and 5s (5s used to work perfect on ios7 on same networks) – My MBP-R and all other devices run perfectly on my network.

I spoke to AppleCare again yesterday and asked for their advice as its now my fourth iPhone in just under a month. This time they said that apple were fully aware of the Wi-Fi problem and that new repair tickets were not being raised for their engineers as they are already working hard to get this resolved. They also said they could see all the issues raised on the apple discussions boards which they usually don’t admit too! I asked what to do next and the advisor apologised and said this is clearly a software glitch and will be resolved in the next update. I asked for a timescale but unfortunately none was given.

As stated above I have tried all the troubleshooting methods discussed on forums and on tech websites but the only thing that gives me a stable connection without any disconnects (especially on my 6 plus) is turning cellular/mobile data off when I know I’m going to be on Wi-Fi for a sustained period of time (e.g. at home or work). I appreciate this is annoying but it’s the best temp fix until an update comes out.

Hope it helps everyone who is having issues with their devices that have cellular functionality.

Any comments welcome

Apple shop advises that there is something wrong with our home Wifi.

We experience similar intermittency as reported on this thread with

iphone 6. ipad and Macbook just fine. Provider check also fine.

So we are pretty confident it's something to do with the current version

of iOS 8.x. Looking forward to the next update near soon...

I hope the replacement phone works for you. I've replaced my phone and restored it as a new loading back all my apps and I still have the problem. So I have the problem on two phones and AppleCare has work with me and basically they won't admit there is a problem but someone said that it's most likely a software compatibility issue that will be fixed in a new iOS release.

I'm having the same issues. 64GB iPhone 6 on iOS 8.0.2

Got the phone on 26 September but it has only just started with the wi fi issue last night? I turn wi fi off during the day and when I get home at night it doesn't find any networks. Only hard reset works. Also randomly drops signal then reconnects. Does anyone know what the current Apple advice is? Are we waiting for a software update or are we supposed to go and get a replacement?

Thanks

Helen

Thank you for your recommendation. I've tried your recommendation and everything else on this discussion board as well and various steps with the AppleCare and nothing has worked. Unofficially someone from Apple told me that they're looking to have the situation rectified with the next release about ios 8 this month. Remember this is unofficial.

I've read through this whole thread, as I was experiencing the same issue on my i6. The funny thing was that my wife's phone was not experiencing this at all, but I don't think its hardware related. We are both on 8.2, but the only difference is that I upgraded to iCloud Drive with my macbook air, and she has not.

I did manage to fix my phone for the past few hours- I can tell you now that none of the fixes in this thread worked.

This worked for me:

1. Turn off WiFi.

2. Hard reset the phone (home button + lock button for 5 seconds).

3. Turn phone on

4. Turn on WiFi.

So far my all networks are showing up, and its stable on my home network (WPA2 N router). The one caveat is that i do for an instant see LTE when I wake the iPhone, but not sure if that affecting anything.

I do think this is software related for sure, so don't waste your time going to an Apple store. v8.1 update will be released on Monday- wait until then and hopefully all issues will be resolved. (And we get Apple Pay! $$)
