Can't sync music anymore with iOS 8. All disappeared.

Okay, I just updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 two days ago. Today, I wanted to put more music from my iTunes in my PC. Note that my iTunes in PC is recently updated. When I started syncing my new music, it won't work. When I start playing a song in my phone, won't work too. Almost all disappeared. From having 664 songs, I have 16 left. Please help. I want my music back.

It definitely has something to do with iCloud. I've synced over 50GB of music twice to have it all become "greyed out" upon connecting it to my Macbook again. Just noticed now that when my device (iPhone 6, 128GB) is set to airplane mode, all the greyed out music is gone.

The weirdest part about this is that I can still play the songs off my phone through iTunes (and no, they're not playing from my library) and the storage is still being utilized on my phone. So the songs are clearly still present. Hopefully there's some sort of fix soon, because this is absolutely ridiculous...

Pamela, I could not have explained my issues any better. I am having the exact same issue. First sync works great. Future syncs won't add new music, or reflect changes to things like artist name, and songs randomly won't play. I re-sync and those songs may come back and other songs then have issues. Spent a few hours on the phone with apple yesterday with no resolution. And to those doing a first sync and having it work...I suggest turning off auto sync and sync over wi fi, as it seems like an additional syncing will cause you issues.

Hi,

just a big remark: Do all of you with problems have phones with 128GB of capacity? Whenever a capacity was mentioned, it was 128GB, also in this thread: iOS 8 iTunes sync problem .

The worst thing for me is that my music (which has been completely uploaded via USB, about 64GB) seems to be converted into "Other" data. Further syncs are then trying to upload my entire library again, which is not fitting anymore, of course. Looking into Usage in the settings app shows only 10GB left for music, the rest is not shown anymore but taken.

Only solution for me so far: restore from backup.

Cheers,

Kic

Nope. I had this problem setting up my roomattes iPhone 5S 64. Stopped banging my head and restored the phone and that did it for him. Took the opportunity to update his entire app structure also. Took about 1 hr. My 6 Plus was fixed with Network reset. So it seems different answers for different situations. Either way it is a bug and I'm certain that like with every major iOS launch 8.1 will be here very very shortly.

I did notice something odd. I started having sync problems at the same time that I noticed the huge delay in syncing music when I saw the artwork being updated, which occurs every time I sync, even if I have not made changes or added music. Many of the songs that are now not working were the ones that had missing or incorrect album artwork previously. I am not sure if that is the case across the board as there is no say way to identify which songs are not working, and I am not going to go through 7,000+ songs one at a time to find out. I am wondering if it something getting corrupt with the artwork process during that update, as the songs played fine after the first sync, and the artwork update did not take place until every sync beyond that. If that the case I will take my files actually playing as opposed to looking pretty any day. But I don't see a way to turn that off.
