OK. this MAY be easily solved when you understand the "structure" of these forums

You can only post in a "leaf" or "child" forum (depending your preferred metaphor)

this illustrates how "iPhone" is a "limb" or "parent" and you cannot post in it - but can in the "sub-forums" that appear as links

iPhone >

Using iPhone

iPhone Hardware

iPhone in Business and Education

iPhone Accessories

At the end of the New Discussion posting process, you need to make a choice of where to put it

Look what happens when I "Test"

User uploaded file

THEN, look what happens when I type the word "iPhone" = ALL by ITSELF

User uploaded file

SOME forums are BOTH parent AND child - like "Using Apple Support Communities" or "Apple ID"

Valid point you made.

Their message was misleading. It said I could not create content, and the content I wished to make was a new post ergo I could not post, when in fact I should have written that I cannot start a new thread.

Tried again, and now have the message "Post limit reached. Please try again in a few moments."

I tried a "few moments" later, and it posted. I get the Post limed reached msg every time I post or edit. I can wait a few mins.

This is a huge thread - the answer is here somewhere

You must post NEW Questions in a "child" or "leaf" sub-forum - if they exist - the Parent/Branch/Top-Level won't allow it resulting in the error you cite

EXAMPLE

iPhone > NOT ALLOWED

If you continue to have problems - or cannot post a REPLY somewhere - we will need to get you in contact with our Hosts

I also am unable to create a post, but can only post something to a thread that is already in existence.

i've tried using this forum to figure out why, but so far I've been unable to either solve the problem that I was originally trying to fix, or solve the problem inherent with simply posting something on the help blog even though my password and username work just fine.

Like many other people probably, I'm not at all interested in dbeing some kind of expert user or possessing a lot of esoteric knowledge, I just want to use my phone and do things that to me would seem like changing a lightbulb without requiring an engineer.

You know there is a real issue with apple user friendliness when folks like us need to use a support forum to try to figure out why we can easily post to an apple support forum.

I am no computer light weight having used and inevitably troubleshooted computers from commodore 128 thru various pc's and then finally about 6 years ago mac and iPhone. None the less, I find a high time cost associated with apple and iPhone with a lot of time required to fix various glitches.

I agree, Vincent. I have been in computers since about 1996. I built a computer around the first part of this century. I lived in a five star, 55 plus, park in Florida and helped a lot of other people with their computer problems. I have never had any problems with posting questions in other forums. You would think with all the problems that people are having, that they would make this forum more user friendly. Evidently they don't care.
