iPhone 6: Apparent backlight uniformity issue

My new Verizon iPhone 6 64GB exhibits a darker region on the top 1/8th of the display. It is most evident when displaying a white background. It is difficult to tell whether it's a chromaticity issue (AMLCD issue), a luminance uniformity problem (backlight), or something else all together.

Anyone else notice this effect on their new phone?

The 8.1 JB does not install Cydia (or tweaks) and is for developer only use at this point. Also, I would not recommend posting of your intentions to JB on Apple's site as it voids your warranty.

On another note, I just noticed yesterday while playing a game on my 4th iPhone 6 replacement (after uniformity issues) that the upper left corner of the display felt a little loose. I saw threads about that issue but had not experienced it prior. Lightly tapping that area now results in a clicking noise as if the display is slightly lifted/loose. Doesn't happen in other corners and squeezing the display together lightly while tapping makes it go away.

My display is still a little yellow at the bottom, has a light shadow across the top and a faint ripple in the middle-right but Apple store said they don't see it and can't replace it again for the same issue anyway. Lucky me, I have another issue! I'm gonna wait a few months and periodically check the in-store devices until the uniformity is resolved then ask for another replacement. My current serial (best display so far) starts with F17.

I have done some research and this is an obvious issue. This has been a **** issue since the 4. I have no idea why it affects some and not all. Anyways, this is really starting to frustrate me but I think I will hold on to this phone for another couple of weeks and then call apple back to have the device replaced. is I just had to return an Apple Iphone Leather case because it had a clear QC issue.

As an customer -- I dont care if your products have issues on release. I get that being an early adopter that we may see issues with new devices always massed produced and obviously rushed. What I do care about is the fact that there is no response from Apple. Most of you who went to stores who were denied because some one did not see an issue is a problem. At this point, had I realized how much of hassle this was going to be I would of returned this device within the 14 day period.

Ok I believe I see the issue. The top of these screens arent adhered to the underside of the iphone faceplate properly. If you place your phone on a table top like a desk with a chair and back up a bit. Look slightly left of the darkest blotch you will see a very small section that is very bright. This very bright section is between my two dark blotches. This is a light leak issue. The backlight is concentrated in this small area but actually should be more spread behind the screen to light up the dark blotches to the same white point of the rest of the screen.

Just a note -- I was doing a DFU restore when I noticed this. Its very apparent on the white screen with the black apple and the 'hola' screen.

I Also have noticed darker areas around the corners or edges of my iPhone 6. I went to the Apple Store and they brought out a replacement, but it had a dark area too so they brought out another one. This one is better but I still notice darker area but it's now in the opposite corner. I'm well past my return policy and not real sure what to do. I guess I can try to swap for another one if it continues to bother me. I never noticed it on my 4s or 5 so frustrating especially combined with the Bluetooth issues I had before 8.1. Come on Apple! you have to make a higher quality product or else your market share will dwindle.

I am an user from China and my iPhone 6 has the same problem. Moreover, what I have seen in the Apple Store in Shanghai was that almost all the iPhones that put on the table in the store have this problem more or less. So it is hard to get a perfect one via replacement within a short period, until Apple finds out the reason of the problem and makes the next batch of products better in next year.

After 10 iPhone replacements till date I have given up returned for full refund and I am back to using my iphone5 again. It is such a disgrace. Tried all sorts of serial numbers C39, C37, F78, F2N all lack display quality control. I believe that it has nothing to do with the serial numbers. It is related to batches manufactured during September , October

Yeah, news said that the OEMs of iPhone6 and iPhone6 Plus are different. So this can explain why the backlight problem is mostly found on iPhone6 while seldom happens on Plus. I have given up my 14 days free return policy too and keeps using my current one. And I intend to go into the way of repairing and replace my iPhone next year when lots of new buyers' feedback of new batch of products is good.
