iPhone 6: Apparent backlight uniformity issue

My new Verizon iPhone 6 64GB exhibits a darker region on the top 1/8th of the display. It is most evident when displaying a white background. It is difficult to tell whether it's a chromaticity issue (AMLCD issue), a luminance uniformity problem (backlight), or something else all together.

Anyone else notice this effect on their new phone?

10 iphones! wow, I could never put up with that. I just got my 2nd iPhone 6, this time in space grey. Of course, it has the same backlight issue in the top right corner as my previous one. What really ****** me off was when I went to the apple store yesterday the genius did a full recovery to fix the display, obviously that didn't work. Then he shows me his personal phone which has the same exact issue as ours but claims he doesnt see anything wrong with it.

Maybe some people cant see a shift in color or maybe we just have high levels of OCD

uuntil now every single genius person outright said they don't see any problem. They are trained to not admit the problem. I don't think this thread is about bunch of OCD people trying to complain about the display. Problem (dark shadow and yellow shade regions)exists it is a fact. Sooner or later they have to sort this out. I had every iPhone since launch and none of them have these problems. I've been quite happy using my old 5 again as it has uniform backlight without any problems

IIn London store they agreed that can see the issue. Same person sold me 6+. yes it is a monster but after 2 days I got used to it and now I am happy. My 6+ has berely visoble uniformity issues Which are difficult to notice. Previously I've made 2 replaces of 6 with very visible pathes Returning it finally.

I am very happy with 6+

I bought my iPhone 6 in Italy and I have the same yellow/dark area in the upper right corner. The rest of the display is ok.

Not a heavy effect, but it is visibile (to be honest, not everyone can see it without telling him "hey, look that darker area!".. it depends on how perfectionist you are). Maybe it is better to wait some weeks or months and see if the problem is resolved in production line.

Reading these pages, it seems that replacing the phone right now brings just to headache, and it is extremely likely to get a phone with the same or worst problem. Considering that in Italy is still very hard to find iPhone 6 in Apple Stores (sold out!), it's not even said that I can have a replacement unit.

So I'm on my 3rd iPhone 6 Plus now. To recap:

#1 Dark patch at the top of the screen (weird wavy lines). Also has yellow stain at the top left and dark shadow around the edge of the screen. The rest of the screen was a lovely cool Blue crisp white. Looked great.

#2 Bright white spot at the top of the screen noticable on the Hello setup screen. So blatant I didn't even bother setting the phone up.

#3 No dark patch at the top of the screen or edges. The phone spent the first 48 hours getting really hot with a pegged CPU but seems to have calmed down now. The whites on the screen are a little more yellow and there is a minor tint across the bottom of the screen. You do have to look for it and it sometimes catches my eye when scrolling down text.

Is it the perfect phone? No but the screen is decent and as long as the heating issue doesn't return I think I'm going to keep it. It's very disappointing that the experience of purchasing and using an iPhone is so negative. My father has a white 6+ and it's really uniform so they do exist. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a screen with a uniform backlight and colour tint.

Isn't that why we pay a premium for Apple products?

So I've just gotten my iPhone 6 64gb space grey. Serial number C39, still have similar issue although less prominent.

What's more shocking is that today, I've decided to peel off the plastic protective sleeve to install my screen protector, to my surprise, there was a tiny speck of dust trapped underneath the glass! How ridiculous. Wondering whether if I should get a replacement.

I got my Iphone 6 a few days ago. I have got the same dark area issuse at the right top of the screen, around battery status. This really upset me and washed away all the pleasure I would take from using iphone. The dark area reveals itself especially on white background. I decided to replace my phone once I realized the dark area. However, I read here on this forum many people having the same issue with me, and I changed my mind and keep it as long as it doesnt get worse. I am a teacher, so I had the opportunity to compare my iphone with my students' iphones. It's only me that has such a problem. I think I am really unlucky.

I'm on my Third iPhone 6 now. 2 Space Grey, 1 Silver.

I had a whole other problem which prompted the colour change, involving the grey wearing off the camera bezel and bottom of the rear shell, along with scratches all over the screen.

But concerning the backlight uniformity problem I know for a fact my first Space Grey had this issue in the top right and the Silver I have now has it a little worse in the same place (The second grey I returned immediately due to a loose touchID button so didn't have enough time to evaluate the screen).

The first Grey I had for around 4 weeks and I noticed that the darkened corner very slowly faded to become closer in uniformity to the rest of the screen, this is also happening with my 1 week old Silver model. I do believe it is a problem with the glue in the screen, perhaps where the machine finishes the application and leaves a slight excess which obscures the screen a little whilst still tacky.

I've heated this Silver model with hand dryers and hair dryers, this seems to have sped up the drying process (Do be careful though as the hairdryer I used got so hot that I could see the glue melting over the LCD and moving around, this returned to it's normal state after only a second of removing the heat).

All in all, I think this problem will slowly resolve itself, I remember my first iPhone 5 (Silver) had this issue which I either completely forgot about after the first month or more likely it dried up and disappeared so I never had to worry about it. I've noticed looking back over the forums that the iPhone 4/4S/5 and 5S all have threads relating to this issue immediately after release. I say give it time, if it doesn't go away in 2/3 months then go to Apple, being hasty about it will only end up with the same problem whilst production is still rushed and perhaps additional problems.
