iPhone 6: Apparent backlight uniformity issue

My new Verizon iPhone 6 64GB exhibits a darker region on the top 1/8th of the display. It is most evident when displaying a white background. It is difficult to tell whether it's a chromaticity issue (AMLCD issue), a luminance uniformity problem (backlight), or something else all together.

Anyone else notice this effect on their new phone?

I started an online chat with Apple Support last Saturday after returning my iPhone 6 on Friday. Gist of the conversation was me explaining that I wanted to buy a perfect iPhone 6. They suggested I call Apple Support as their options were limited. So I called them and my call got elevated to senior support. The rep explained that they would pass the possible issue on to an engineer to investigate. I even gave him a link to this thread. The rep called me back yesterday. The engineer had reported that without an iPhone 6 that exhibited the issue, it was impossible to investigate and that they hadn't heard reports of anything similar before.

Makes me wonder what happened to my faulty iPhone and all the other units that posters on this thread have returned.

I really want to order another iPhone 6 in silver, but my confidence is seriously dented (or bent?).

I too wonder if this is a back light problem due to having to redo that component on such a short notice. Here's a shot of mine. The bright area (top center) is my biggest problem. It makes the time look like it has a brighter halo around it, and is very distracting when doing emails and txt. I just put on a dark blue background and it's easy to see. Whites are worse and it has a splotchy look to it. It's that hot spot at the top center that it ruining it for me.

Based on what I've seen at the stores and friends and ccolleagues that also have this phone, it's widespread.

I have went to Apple store and trying to ask for exchange in Palo Alto, US.

The person who helped me simply said he couldn't see any difference. So I asked him you can ask other people for the opinion, then he walked out by asking his coworker twice, they all rejected my problem. I have link this thread to him, he simply rejected by saying "Anyone can say anything on the forum".

His attitude was rude in first place, and starting to ask me to just give it up. I asked for manager, and the manager practically did the same thing, except she let me exchange it and no more exchange after this.

The newer exchanged one finally fixed the problem for screen, but the home button has some really weird loud crunchy sound, and feels like some knock off iPhone.

Now I am afraid to go back and ask for exchange, since the last experience they made me wait 2-3 hours and was so bad that I want to toss this phone away.

Not sure if I can go back and do another exchange, since I am afraid to try again, or even purchase another phone from them.

Verizon iPhone 6 Space Gray 128gb

1st phone- Dark top right corner, bright spot and dead sub pixel as walking out of the store

2nd phone- Faint bright spot in top right corner, faulty antenna (lost signal and wouldnt regain it for at least an hour at a time)

3rd phone- No dead pixels, no bright spots. Slight dent/scratch on mute switch. Also the right side appears pinkish blue, while the left appears greenish yellow. But when I try to take a picture of it, the right side looks more yellow so it may just be my eyes.

The latest phone starts with F17

I'm debating whether to keep this one or try again. But stuck and dead pixels are much worse in my eyes.

I own multiple apple products.

iPad 4 32gb- uneven screen tinting (green to pink shift that was common, but I've adjusted, along with retention issues)

iPod Touch 5th Gen 32gb- (replaced the screen myself due to a large line of stuck pixels forming)

Macbook Pro mid 2010 2.66- (broken bluetooth, dim keyboard, one stuck pixel)

Apple Tv- perfect

Kind of disappointed with apple as of late.

Update: The top left corner is loose with an audible clicking noise on my 3rd iPhone. This along with the uneven tinting is enough to warrant an exchange for me.

Called Verizon since I bought it from them and they aren't getting anymore in til next month. I'm still within my 14 day return period so I should get a brand new phone. Even so, they don't even have any CLN devices. They actually told me to go to apple, but they won't give me a new device.

Kind of stuck. They said a customer has a 128gb on hold at a local store and if they don't come and pick it up that i could have it.

I have experienced exactly the same issue with my iphone 6. Dark border across the top of screen. Im in UK and have already returned 3 iphones, bought the fourth one and it has the same issue. Going to pick up space grey to orrow and see if that is any better. I have also tried two iphone 6 plus and they were perfect. I don not believe that any iphone 6 is free from this issue, in some it is more obvious and in some less but it IS there. Looks like either Im gona have to live with the issue or convince myself to get used to the 6+ monster. Very poor job from Apple on iphone 6 display. Has anybody used their iphone more than two weeks? Using the phone for a few weeks might resolve the issue?

I'm experiencing the same problem with a white/silver 16GB iPhone 6. There is shadow that varies in width across the top edge. It's most prominent around the battery indicator, but it definitely stretches all the way across the top edge. I have two friends that both have iPhone 6's purchased in the last 2 weeks, and theirs do not exhibit this issue. Their phones show uniform lighting across the entire screens under both high and low brightness levels.

My serial number starts with C8K. Love the phone otherwise so this is very disappointing. I read books on the phone quite often, and this dark band is very noticeable under those circumstances.
